Prologue
Leila's P.O.V.
She never liked wearing make-up. Well that is...Until she met HIM. Now she hated it.
Whenever I go out he makes me wear it to cover up his marks. The ones he claims to leave out of love…Says if others saw they wouldn’t understand. But then…When I come back he forces me to wipe it off…Well, it’s not forced anymore. The first time I didn’t get it off soon enough he threatened to beat me until he could see new ones through the cover up.

She came home quite happy. She had a good day. No one noticed anything odd. And she got a bunch of things done that needed to be finished. She was quite relieved to finally be home. She kicked off her heels that she didn’t trip constantly in for once, and plopped down on the couch before watching a little television in the living room.
“Leila.” Came a harsh voice from the bedroom. A tall figure darkened by shadow hid a blonde hazel-eyed young man from the hallway.
“Oh! Joshua. I didn’t know you were coming over tonight. I would have made sure to come home early for you.”
“What were you doing that could have possibly taken up a whole Saturday?! And wearing make up!”
“I-I put it on so no one would think the wrong things…And I had errands to do!”
“What do you mean “the wrong things”?!” He snarled as he jerked her to her feet with a harsh tug on her arm.
“Th-that you’re hurting me for no reason. They’ll think you’re not treating me right….” She tried to turn her face away so he couldn't see the sham in her eyes...She didn't like hiding things from those close to her.
“Do YOU think I’m treating you improperly?” He asked, holding her face tightly by the jaw so that he could look into her eyes. They were big and a little scared looking.
“NO! I-I mean no I don’t! I just know that my friends will!”
“Mhm…So..You put this stuff that we BOTH hate…To keep them from thinking ill of our relationship?...” He licked his thumb and smudged some of it off her cheek, revealing a bruise.
“Right. I’ll get it off now I promise.”
“If you ever come home hiding your face from me again, I’ll give you marks that break the mask. PERMANENTLY.” He threatened with a cold stare before crushing their mouths together.
Once she was able to breathe again Leila looked up at him. “Yes, Joshua.”

Joshua's P.O.V.
She's cleansed herself of her mask. Now she displays all the marks that MAKE her mine....I love just watching her walk around so I can just admire my work...
Leila…A name that means Loyalty….And did this one blessed with the name have it. With her soft, chocolate brown eyes, dimpled chin and, silky hair the color of ivory with highlights that danced with the sun’s position, she seemed the kind that would be coveted by many...And she was.
But she is not like anyone else I have met in my life. She truly does have unconditional love and trust of those close to her. If she miss uses it, it is rarely on purpose…And completely justified. Personally, I think she is always too lenient on those that wrong her. But then again, I am seen by most as a cruel, heartless, hopeless person.
But not to her. She knows the real me. That I am misunderstood. Because of my cruel thoughts and disposition to most and all humans it is hard for me to believe any are worth getting close to. She seemed to know this the moment she looked at me with those eyes. They seemed to search for the good in everyone…But there is no good in me. Nothing about me is good….But she thinks so and I enjoy pretending. Wouldn’t you?
She is perfect. I don’t care what she thinks, she is perfect for ME. She is so considerate…She tries to do everything she believes is in her power to make those she cares deeply for happy.
She’s done many “uncommon” deeds in pursuit of the goal to do just that for me and me alone. They bent her beliefs and her inner self and, her soul is so beautiful when it writhes in protest to her conscious actions. I love it.
If there even IS a God, they must think I’m an awful person to enjoy the turmoil of a loved one. Some may wonder how one with no good is able too love but all humans can be both without good or full of love…I happen to use both in unison.
Joshua purred at his thoughts.
“Josh?” She inquired, purely curious as to the reason for this rare but pleasant sound.
“Just thinking of you, dear.” He gave her a soft kiss on the forehead as they lay, her in his arms as usual, on her bed. How I love the way she speaks so purely, so much truth in her words. And she is all mine. To do with as I please. Now...Off to bed.
