Prologue
Welcome once more! No, it's not the last of me! Not yet anyway. I wish you all please enjoy this Sequel to Believing in Myself, starting with this Prologue. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I will writing it.
Prologue
The room stood dark, save for candles placed in a large circle. They glowed a strange blueish light, unlike normal light. On the floor was a large circle drawn in blood, that had several designs inside it, along with the writing of demons, also in blood. Standing before the circle was a person in a seamless black robe and hood. From somewhere in the darkness a voice came.
"Are you sure this will work?"
The hooded man seemed to scoff at the question and shift, but answered all the same. "Of course. I've waited years for this to happen. In twelve days time, the new moon will rise. And once the ritual is complete, power unimaginable will be unlocked." He crossed his arms. "We need a pure soul to complete the ritual and I have the perfect one in mind."
He thought of the young girl he had observed. She was perfect, in both her purity and the spark of magic alive in her, although she was nowhere near old enough to harness the incredible magic power within her. Her parents were also magic casters, one of them being a Destined in fact. This information made her more special then ever, as Destined were now all but gone. So few remained, ever since the Pact of Seven began to wipe them out one by one. But they were foolish, playing with power they neither knew nor understood. And in the end, this power destroyed them. But he would not make the same mistake.
Determined to succeed was what brought him here now, to perform this small, minor task. For he needed a demon's power to help with the ritual.
"No, I mean this... ressurrection thing" the voice in the darkness said, clearly intrigued.
"Yes. While the process may not work with humans or angels, it is still effective with demons. They can be brought back from the chaos they are damnned to. Observe." The man reached out and placed his hands over the crimsion colored circle. On the back of his left hand was a strange symbol. It looked to be in the shape of a dragon. "Great dark powers, I command you... reawake this demon from slumber, and have him serve me!"
A bright light shot out, and a rushing wind. As the light shot out, for a brief instant the origin of the voice in the dark could be seen, wearing a strange red garment and black pants made for quickness and stealth. He wore black shoes with a red design on them. In one hand held what appeared to be a throwing star, and the other hand held a dagger of sorts. The rushing wind blew away the circle of blood, but it didn't seem to affect the candles at all. Then in the center of the circle that was, a loner figure stoo, hunched. It opened it's eyes, as a burning symbol appeared on it's forehead.
"Now awaken Hieas... and exact your vengence upon him... the only one to stand in my way. John Aaron." The demon Hieas appeared to do nothing but stare at his body. Standing over 7 feet tall and wielding a large battle axe on his back, Hieas was a demon who mastered water magic, and was one of the original Pact of Seven. Finally he stared to the figure in front of him.
"If you want to know about the Dark Gate, forget it. Been there, tried that, failed."
The hooded figure scoffed again, shaking hia head. "I don't care about that. I need your help. You want revenge against the one who killed your demon brother, Atrois correct? Well, I'm here to give you that chance."
Hieas stood silent for a moment before stepping out from where the center of the circle was, toward the hooded man. He watched this stranger stare him down from beneath his hood, sensing no fear in him. It was... unnerving. "Your no normal human, are you? There is something... dark about your aura."
"I admit, I am... different then most people. But then again, with what I have planned, I must be different. I must be ready and strong enough to perform this task. Another reason I want your assistance."
The two beings stood, staring at each other. Hieas briefly felt someone in the room as well, yet he seemed to possess no magic power, so immediately disregarded it. He returned his gaze to the hooded man again, as if judging him. He raised his hand and the hooded man shook it, as if sealing an agreement. The symbol on Hieas' forehead now shaped itself into a strange seven-pointed star.
"Well well... so I guess now we're all just one happy family right?" The man in the shadows approached the light, his features still blurred in the darkness. "Let's just see how long it will take before we start arguing," he said, a small smile on his face.
"Who are you? Why are you here anyway? I don't sense magic within you, yet you dare have the nerve to-" Hieas' words were cut short when the figure in the shadows suddenly vanished. The next moment the blade of his dagger was pressed against Hieas' neck, threating to break through the demon's skin.
"I'd really just shut up right now if I were you. Or would you rather finish that last statement before you die?"
"You see Hieas, while my companion may not possess the gifts of magic you or I have," the hooded man explained, seeing the now surprised look on Hieas' face, "his skills are extrodinary. His blades are infused with magic itself and can easily cut through your demon protection. I'd suggest watching your tone around him. You are, after all, expendable." The man removed his blade from Hieas' neck, while the demon merely shruged the whole thing off. Yet inside, he felt strangely nervous.
He wasn't sure just what sort of frightening power these two had, especially if one of them didn't even need to have magic to use it.
