The Pendant

*I\'m Back and yeah this is all mine. It is kinda off beat and not what I usally write but I like it all the same. Kinda sexy in an odd way I guess. Please tell me what you think of it.*

For years it sat, untouched, unseen, unknown by the mortal world Its great beauty and power wasted in the depths of the earth. Tarnished by time, it sat on its crumbling stone pedestal encircled by immense rotting spider webs and thick layers of dust. The glistening silver now merely a greenish bronze, the demonic lust faded from its large ruby.

Alone it sits waiting for the hands of a foolish mortal to harness its powers once again and bring the tyrants of the demonic world back into rule. Bring the old ones from their deep eternal slumber to rain the acids of hate and devastation down on man and condemn the fates of the human race.

It listened, it waited tens of thousands of years to hear the footsteps of the greedy soul that would pull it from its rest and awaken it. Year after year it felt itself rot and crumble in its tomb waiting just waiting for a day when man’s curiosity brought them here. A day like today.

The loud country music blasted and echoed in the over stuffed high school auditorium and her head throbbed. Her ears were far to sensitive for this but she had made him a promise. She could smell the sweat, flesh, and blood of those around her, pressing her into the stage. She could hear the blood flow through their veins and it made her mouth water. She could feel the demon of her soul slowly taking control. She shook her head and concentrated on her long time boyfriend.

His fingers danced across the strings of his guitar and she could see the vibrations that they created. A thing most were unable to notice. She could see the calluses in his fingers and each fiber in his shirt. He knew what she was and he loved her, before it happened and even after. She often times wondered why he stayed with her knowing that at any given moment she could take his life and think nothing of it. But deep down she knew that would never happen, she loved him and she assumed he loved her too.

He smiled down at her before he pulled the microphone over. As the last note of the last bar of the last song finished up he smiled. “This next one I wrote for the love of my life, Purity Jade.”

She rolled her eyes and let out a deep sigh. Raising her right hand into the air she sent ripples across the auditorium. The cheers and music became distorted, drawn out. Movements of people all around her slowed to an almost stop. Time itself seemed to slow.

Effortlessly she jumped up on the stage. Her long black leather trench coat danced behind her. She landed silently, her black leather high heeled boots seemed as though they were made of cotton. Not even her leather pants spoke as she moved to hide in the shadows created by a large speaker system on the side of the stage. With a slight wave of her hand everything resumed its pervious speeds and sounds.

She watched in amusement as her boyfriend searched the crowd for her again. He seemed disappointed that she was gone. His face pulled into a deep frown as he sang his song. She hated the words anyway. They spoke of a pure and gentle person. The person she had been, before this, but she would never tell him that. She did however, enjoy making him squirm a bit and this was what she needed to take her mind off of all those innocent people out in the audience.

It had been a long time since she had allowed the demon to take control. It had been years in fact since she had killed an innocent person and feed from their life to sustain her own. Months since she had even thought of doing something so vile. Being here, in this crowded place, with all of these smiling, happy, innocent, young people brought those feelings back to her. It made her feel weak to want to give in, but that is what their youth is about. That is what all youth is about. Giving in and experiences. There is not a single person standing there that would not have willingly given themselves to one of these band members. That thought alone made her scowl.

She could smell him. He was walking over to put his guitar away. The show was finally over. His sweat, his cologne, his blood, his breath it was all him and she had memorized ever bit of it. From the scent he gave off when he was happy to the one he gave off when he was sad, every emotion he carried had a smell, he had a smell and she loved it, longed for it, lived for it. Everyday she wondered, not worried just simply wondered, if it would be their last together. If he would ever have enough of her and find someone normal. Someone he could grow old with, walk on the beach with, watch a sunset with. He never did, for five years now he had not left her and yet she still feared that he would.

“Nice show cowboy,” her soft voice barely carried over the screams and cheers of the teenaged crown only feet away.

He jumped at the sound, “Geeze Purity, are you trying to give me a heart attack?” He set his guitar down and pulled her body close to his. He loved the feel of her thin, leather clad, large breasted body pressing against his. He nestled his face against her soft blond hair and sighed. “You know I find it incredibly sexy when you do that appearing thing you did tonight.”

“I know. It takes a great deal of energy.” Her voice carried no emotion as she spoke to him, but she pulled him closer. “I have to go Chris. There are things I need to take care of.” Her pale lips brushed against his. Her flesh so cold, pale, and yet beautiful. Like a porcelain doll.

He deepened the kiss, not wanting to let her go. Wanting to hold her for the rest of his life and a small portion of hers. Wanting to feel her, understand her, love her in a way he had never done any of those things to anyone else. He wanted to prove to her that he would always be hers. That his body ached for her. His hands tangled in her long golden locks, forcing her to move closer to him.

She pulled away, no flush to her face, no shortness of breath, just a smirk, her ever present smirk. “See you later cowboy. And the name is Jade now. There is nothing pure about me anymore. Nothing that is except you.” She vanished into the shadows that she had come from and his fingers rested softly on his lips. He knew she would be there for him when he got back to their apartment. That was something he looked forward to. After she had killed, not out of hunger but out of goodness, righteousness. She was wrong, she was still pure, her soul was still as pure and clean as the ocean, if only he could make her see that.
