An exciting and very real story. Jay is a well written character who made me care for him, even though I didn't agree with the actions he took.

I enjoyed this. It felt very real and natural; rather sweet really. You got a clear idea about what Jay is like and you believed that he was telling the tale. I liked the way we slowly got to know Brian, like Jay did, and that the description of what he looked like was spread throughout the story rather than in a lump. I also like the way the story just starts with no preamble.
It would have been nice to get a little snippet about Jay’s friends (Mike, Jeff and Martin) in a similar way to how we got an insight into Brian’s friends. I do wonder about Brian’s parents being so laid back about them spending a night together given that they know Brian is gay.

I'm uncomfortable with his age, but otherwise like this first chapter. The first person voice was believable to me.
