Okay forgive me but I'm about to ramble.
So when I read the summary, I almost passed it by. Sci fi themes aren't usually my thing, so I was nearly positive I wouldn't like this... but I did! Your descriptions are so nice and subtle and easy to read. That ease of writing makes the story very easy to get into, if you know what I mean. The only thing I had a problem with was the beginning. There were a lot of concepts and unfamiliar words - as expected with sci-fi and fantasy - all at once in the narration.
When you mentioned Vidal for the first time I got a little wary. I was a little intimidated by the idea of the relationships already being established, but when we got to meet vidal during that little romp, I was very happy you decided to do it that way. He is just too much fun, I love it! Still I kinda hope there's another relationship in the wings for our hero that's yet to be discovered.
So regardless of my preliminary, unfounded judgements, you surprised me and proved those judgements wrong, so good job! I'll be looking out for more of this. Oh, and by the way! I'm curious about the main chars looks. You described him as feline with those wacky eyes, but have you drawn a picture or anything of him? I'd love more details!
