I like the style you used, was almost like reading Anne Frank again. I would sugget a closer look at your spelling, there are a few mistakes in there but nothing serious.

I understand that this is an older piece but I would suggest expanding the story a little either from the girls point of view or the people discovering the site in the future; maybe giving more of an explanation as to what happened?

You did a really good job of sucking the reader in quickly, well done.
