Very well done! A story like this should be expanded--perhaps having several chapters introducing the characters, the situation, everything. There is so much of a backstory to be told!
As you can probably tell from my reviews of your stories/poems, I like your work very much. You have a way of telling the reader a story so adeptly that they feel something when they read it. Your imagery is near-perfection. You portray and describe events and people with a bare minimum of words and your ideas come across wonderfully!
