This story is all mine for once, if you\'d like to post it somewhere besides AFF.Net, drop me a line and ask: SithBytch@pacbell.net It\'s that easy folks.

Here\'s how this works, I made myself an alphabet challenge, starting with the letter Y, each sentence had to start with the next letter of the alphabet, until I got to X, then I had to go /backwards/ back to Y.
Really, it mak make more sense when you read it.

Now, on with the story...

\"Yes,\" I said, voice unwavering even through my fear, \"I am a map courier, but I have no maps.\"
\"Zee, \" my captor half-cooed, I\'m curious as to how he learned my name, \"Where are they?\"
Adrenaline was rapidly replacing my fear with a feeling of sheer recklessness, \"Already told you. Been delivered. Couriers do that you know.\"
\"Delivered,\" he sighed, clearly aggravated, something that gave me a strange sense of satisfaction, \"Delivered where?\"
\"Everywhere they needed to be. Freedom will be won, and soon.\"

~Gods, why are you baiting him like this? He won\'t hesitate to kill you.~ I thought to myself. ~Just don\'t acquiesce, ~ the other part of my brain countered. ~Keep fighting until the end.~
\"Listen, \" he continued, interrupting my internal debate, \"The rest of your unit has already been dealt with, Shennen, Filo, Mikhael...\"
\"Mik! No way you\'ve got Mik.\"
\"Oh yes,\" he smiled, I should\'ve known not to react, \"We do have him, or we did anyway,\" he shrugged then, \"At least we assumed it was him, you tell me, this Mik of yours, what\'s he look like? Pretty boy? Quite stoic? Redhead? Screamer?\"

That was more than enough to cause my heart to sink, it had to be true, but I still couldn\'t wrap my mind around it, Mik couldn\'t be dead.
\"Usually they don\'t last as long as he did, usually don\'t last more than a few hours, that boy of yours lasted nearly a week. Very stubborn.\"
When I focused on him again he was smirking, I wanted to tear it off his face.
\"Xeeres, do you really think you\'ll be able to protect those few who are left?\"
Xeeres, he thought my name was Xeeres, hope flared in my chest at that, Xeeres was an alias, and an old one at that.

\"Why yes, actually I do.\"
\"Very well,\" he arched a brow, \"Let\'s see if you can hold out as long as your boy did.\"
Unadulterated fear quickly overshadowed the hope that had filled me a moment before.
This was not a time to hesitate, I had to act, let the fear take hold, guide me, fear can keep you alive, panic can kill you.

Surging up from the seat I\'d been placed in and grabbing my bag -for there were maps in it for anyone who knew how to look- caught my captor off guard.
~Run! Quick!~ Panic was making itself known, I couldn\'t let it rise.
One moment I was standing, ready, poised, and the next I\'d slammed into him full force as I took off running.

Nothing they tell you, nothing they show you, can really prepare you for that rush of adrenaline that takes over at times like these.
My subconscious knew the way out of the complex, all I had to do was follow. Left, right, then fight again, up the stairs, down the hall, ~Pour it on and don\'t stop for anything. Keep moving.~ Jem would be proud of me if he could see me now, he was the one who taught me that thinking laterally could, and would, save my life.
I could see the door, ~Nearly there, just make it to the end of the hall. Home free. Gotta keep moving.~

Fire erupted across my back. Excruciating pain shot down my spine, I felt myself falling, nothing to catch hold of, falling, falling. Darkness.
\"C\'mon Zee, get up, let\'s go,\" Mik\'s voice cutting through the darkness, \"Can you hear me?\"
\"But, you\'re dead, Mik, you\'re dead, aren\'t you? Answer me!\"
\"Zee, yes, I\'m dead, you\'re dead, we\'re all dead, time\'s up, game\'s over, you ready to go home?\"
\"...Yes, yes, let\'s go home.\"
