Chapter 1: The Beginning
Kristina and Samantha were standing in line for hot chocolate, in the main lodge’s coffee shop, when Dan came up behind the two grade 12 girls and added one more hot chocolate to the order and then paid for it all. They brought it up to on of the tables in the loft and were drinking it and laughing when Sam asked \"Anyone wanted to go snow boarding? I hear it\'s great this morning, not too many people on the slopes...come on.\"
Kristina said \"No..I think I wanna head over to the gym and work out a bit before lunch, besides- Steve might be there...you know how much I like him.\"
\"I\'ll go...as long as it\'s not the bunny hills, I can\'t stand boardin\' there.\" Dan offered.
After about an hour and a half of heavy snowboarding they stopped for a rest, \"Hey I\'m getting pretty winded out here. Why don\'t you go up for one last run and I\'ll wait for you here and we can go back to find Kristina.\" Dejan asked.
\"Sure, I\'ll be right back! Watch for me!\" Sam said as she continued on to the ski lift to head back up the mountain.
As Sam got to the place where Dan was waiting she did a perfect backflip and landed in his arms. The only problem was that he was off balance and with Sam in his arms, they fell backwards, tumbling through the forest on the side of the slope! When they finally came to a stop, Dan was on top of her and Sam started laughing. He laughed a few times and then he bent his head over Sam\'s and kissed her passionately. When he broke the kiss Sam was breathless, and energised, and recaptured his lips. They started to kiss like it was the end of the world, and Sam hoped it was, cause if this wasn’t true love she hoped she would die. It started to progress beyond her comprehension, until he was taking off his coat. She grabbed his hands and said \"Dan, it’s like -2 degrees out here, at least wait until later before we go any farther.”
They got up, picked the twigs out of eachother\'s hair and walked back to the gym hand in hand (snow boards in their other hands). When they got inside, Sam looked for Kristina, and found her talking, more like flirting, with Stephan, straddling the bench press. Sam and Dan went over to them and Sam said very enthusiastically “Kristina you should have been there! I pulled a nosegrab, stalefish, method madness, 360 tailgrab, frontside 180, and a backslide rail grind, before landing a perfects back flip... but then I crashed into Dan! But still it was SO cool!”
Kristina groaned, then looked up and said “Okay say that again, and in English this time.”
“Um, I did a bunch of tricks before I ran into Dan and fell down the side of the ski slope.”
“Oh Cool, wanna go play basketball?”
Sam looked at Dan who said ‘sure’ so they went to change in the girl’s room, where Sam preceded to tell Kristina what ELSE happened on the slopes. Together Kristina and Sam proceeded downstairs to the basketball courts.
~*~*~After the basketball game~*~*~
\"Wow that was hot.\" Kristina reminessed, \"especially when he fell on top of me, and errr...nevermind. So what are you planning on doing tonight for dinner?\"
\"Well there\'s the Welcome Feast in the main lodge tonight that we\'re all supposed to attend, so I figured I\'d check it out. I\'m gonna take Dan with me, as my date and then probably have a romantic cup of hot chocolate infront of the fire in our lodge.\" Sam explained \"By the way, have you heard from Veronica lately, I dont think she\'s gotten here yet. She was supposed to be on the tain with us, but I guess she missed it.\"
20 minutes later, after showering and getting dressed in their warm sweaters, jeans and insulated boots Kristina and Sam looked ravishing as they exited the girls locker room and met with the equally dashing men who were waiting for them in the main lobby. \"R-ready to go?\" Stephan stammered.
\"Yup!\" Kristina said excitedly, linking arms with Stephan and they walked out into the glimmering snow.
~*~*~Later that night~*~*~
\"How long can it take two girls to get ready?\" Dan questioned, exasperated from waiting for an hour and a half.
\"I\'m not sure, but I don\'t see how putting their hair in ponytails and getting dressed can take so long?\" Stephan replied.
Both were silenced as Kristina and Sam stepped out of their rooms in matching outfits, their hair flowing in silken waves down over their shoulders, and their eyes exaggerated by makeup. Kristina wore a beautiful powder blue cashmere turtleneck sweater and a plush royal blue ski vest over top. The bottoms of her blue jeans were tucked into furlined hiking boots that were a matching powder blue colour. The royal blue ear muffs she held in her hand went beautiful with her deep chocolate brown eyes and the red lip tint made hers a stunning image.
Sam was wearing a matching outfit, the only difference was the hue. Sam\'s attire was deep reds and crisp white. The white jeans she wore hugged her hips and thighs but flared around the calf and were tucked into the top of her white hiking boots. Her crisp white cashmere sweater set off the rich red of her vest, and showed off the lovely auburn of her long flowing locks, her blue eyes shining like the heavens as she looked down at her soon-to-be-lover and that of her friend and she was truely happy.
\"Should we get going?\" Sam asked as they reached the bottom of the stairs.
\"Um...Uh...Ya.\" Dan said shaking his head and smiling, \"We should get to the dinner.\"
~*~*~Upon arriving back after the dinner~*~*~
\"What the hell was that?\" Dan asked Steve when they were sitting downstairs infront of their lodge\'s personal fireplace.
\"Errr...I don\'t know...it sounded like a girl reunion.\" Steve shrugged \"Let\'s go see what it is.\"
When they guys got upstairs, they looked into the girls\' room and saw a bunch of jumping and hugs accompanied by more squeels. \"Apparently it is a girl reunion.\" Steve remarked.
\"Oh my god! When did you get in? I thought you missed the train and couldn\'t come!\" Sam asked their newly arrived friend, Veronica.
\"Well see, I did miss the train, Brendan and I were running late because I couldn\'t find my other ski-boot, and then the car wouldn\'t start so we had to hail a cab, but by the time we got to the train station we were an hour and a half late and so we caught the next train in. And we would\'ve been here for the dinner except our cab from the train station was scared to drive because there was a snow storm on the way and he wasn\'t sure if he\'d make it back in time before the snow started.\" Vern explained. \"Oh ya ...I forgot..This is Brendan. Brendan, this is Sam, Tina, Steve and Dejan(but everyone just spells it Dan cause it\'s easier).\"
\"Well we\'ll let you guys get unpacked, Brendan maybe Steve could show you the way to the guy\'s room and you can put your stuff away,\" Sam explained, heading downstairs \"I\'m going to go put the kettle on for some hot coco.\"
Later on, as the fire was dying down and the laughter was turning to yawns, Sam got up off the couch to bring the mugs to the kitchen to wash them.
\"Here let me help you with that.\" Dan offered, picking up the rest of the mugs and helping Sam wash them. As soon as they were out of earshot Vern remarked, \"Well if they are the cutest couple...I wonder why they never noticed it when we were still at home?\"
\"That\'s because Sam\'s always busy with studying and her horse,\" Kristina started.
\"And Dan\'s always travelling for his hockey\" Steve finished \"Plus, back home Dan just broke up with his long-time girlfriend. Though Sam and Dan have known eachother since grade school.\"
Yawning Kristina got up and excused herself, saying \"Well I\'ve had just about enough fun for tonight, I think I\'ll head to bed and read until I fall alseep.\"
Jumping up from next to her, Steve offered \"I\'ll walk you to your room, I\'m pretty tired too.\" And they walked off to bed hand in hand, Tina saying goodbye to Sam as they came up to the stairs, Steve asking to borrow a book because he wanted something to read as well.
From the couch, Vern snuggled up to Brendan, both snickering knowingly as they watched Kristina and Steve go into the girls room. A few minutes later, Sam and Dan having completed the dishes, came back to sit on the opposite couch from Vern and Brendan. Sam resting her head on Dan\'s shoulder and he wrapped his arm around her shoulders. They talked long into the night, and finally all decided to go to bed. When they came up to the girls room door, they heard laughter. Upon opening the door, the first thing they saw was Steve jumping back into the sheets, missing and falling off the bed, pulling the sheets and Kristina off with him. All they heard was a loud crash and a squeel as Kristina fell ontop of Steve. \"It\'s not what you think!\" Kristina lied as they tried to stand up and cover themselves at the same time.
\"Um...it\'s okay, you sleep here, I\'ll stay in the boy\'s room tonight.\" Sam said, trying (unlike Vern) to stiffle her laughter while backing out of the doorway. Vern smiled, shaking her head at them as she grabbed her wheeled luggage and closed the door behind her. Shrugging her shoulders, Kristina pushed lightly on Steve\'s chest and jumped on top of him as he fell softly onto the bed.
