Just One More Day

One More Day.

With my head upon the pillow

I close my eyes, and struggle to breath.

The weight of the world 

So much to grieve. 

Sleep is so very fleeting

Monsters in the dark, lurking in a nightmare.

I feel so alone 

Only holding on by a hair.

Morning comes with bright sun light 

A small smiling face, eager to play.

I must stay strong 

Fight through another day.

In the night my soul aches 

I cower and quake, coldness in my heart.

Feel like I’m drowning 

The pain tearing me apart.

In the day so full of action

Giggles of laughter, tears to wipe away.

I refuse to fall

I will fight through another day. 

I battle my demons in the night 

To see my girl, watch her dance and sway.

So very broken 

Yet fighting for another day.

Just. 

One.
