A Day In The Life

                                     A Day In The Life

Abstract As A Wig On A Cactus

Everyone sees the world differently. That’s one of the first things I learned growing up. Every single thing that happens to you will shape your view.  From a hurricane to taking out the trash nothing is ever truly insignificant. And all it takes is that one moment to take your view and shift it. From narrow to panoramic. It stays with you in ways that you may never even notice or disrupt your entire life.  Memories affect everyone in different ways. Like when several people witness the same event and yet just the fact that you happen to be standing two feet from the person beside you affords you a different angle, it changes your whole perspective. You could witness the same event and yet explain it a completely different way, kind of like looking at a painting and interpreting it differently than all the other people wandering the gallery, and squinting at all the abstract art and wondering what the hell is nouveau riche and is that a spoon taped to a garbage bag on a hanger? What the hell am I supposed to interpret from that?

My point? No two people experience something the same way. And because of this everyone sees the world differently. Why this is important is what I’m going to tell you. While everyone may see things differently the majority never see the whole picture. Which is probably a good thing considering I can just imagine the amount of panic and pandemonium that would cause. People tend to react violently when they only get a glimpse, and most of those they just seem to break. Humans can’t handle the whole picture they biologically reject the truth, reasoning it away. “That was just a shadow”, “I’m being paranoid”, “you’re just seeing things honey”. And when that doesn’t work they break out the big guns, “you’re lying”, “He’s just making it up, he’s doing it for attention”.  And if you don’t stop pushing it you usually end up in a padded cell, drugged till you can’t feel your face while the guy in the white coat wants you to talk about your feelings, and how your mommy issues affect your delusions. People see what they want to see, and what they need to see. If they don’t want to see the six foot Ataraguian demon devouring that homeless guy’s dog then they don’t. They can’t handle it. Instead they see a car hitting the dog, or maybe another bigger dog attacking it. Either way perception is key, but if you do end up being one of the unlucky ones who catches a glimpse of the whole other world around you and your mind doesn’t break you now have a bigger problem than just a new stain on the front of your pants. Because in general if you can see it, well then more than likely it notices you can see and more often than not it doesn’t want to be seen. People disappear and are never found all the time after all. So…

My name is Prinilly Panchenkov and I don’t just see the whole picture, I’m in it.
