Demonic

The atmosphere was full of frenzied cacophonus noise. Speakers blasted clips of horror films. As Horror Con was under full sway in the packed carnival stretching a full five miles of the biggest carnival attraction of the year. Put on by Grotesquerie Queen. A corporation he owned. The autumn breeze all but obliterated by the the many guests and massive amount of equipment.

Afzal was not happy when he saw the call on his phone. He cursed his mistress for wanting to mingle among lesser beings. He straightened his tie looked at his bodyguards. "Watch her" He commanded his bodyguards. Before he stepped into the employee section and as the metal door clanged the vapid noise dissapated.

"I am most annoyed Guido." The other demon laughed.

"How is that experiment coming?" Afzal kept his tone level. "How is that unfortunate economic mess you made coming?" He fired back. The demon glibly chuckled completely unfazed. "Let's not our conversation devolve from our areas of prominence" He tsked."Its been so long since you've been out, I was beginning to worry." Guido insincerely stated.

"I would absolutely hate to be the source of of any stress for you Guido." He snarked back. He grinned showing his teeth.

As lords of their kind, this was as far as friendship could ever go. The only reason Guido and he had never warred was simple. Guido was a fat greedy bastard with the virtue of patience and Afzal was far too busy with his experiments which more often than not tended to reward them both. They traded favors, minions and eqiupment in a very careful process. In an unoffical noninterference pact.

"The pharmaceuticals experiment is going quite well." He revealed carefully.

"That's good news indeed. This Horror Con of yours. The doing of your mistress I assume?" His grimace answering the question for him. "Yes"

"How about you try the Velvet Rooms instead?" He scoffed. The velvet rooms were a joint venture of theirs. He had an entire wing that remained empty. "I've never understood your habit of sticking to one mistress at a time."

Afzal didn't dignify that sentence with a response as he disconnected the call with a click.

Afzal shifted to limbo. The world twisting and distorting. He wanted to triple check security.

There were always demon hunters with their usual arrogance, weakling demons that thought they had something to prove, rival demons that tried sabotage. Dragons with their horde fetish trying to gain demon equipment to add to their pile.

Demon hunters were a simple matter, identify them and then drag them into limbo. The denizens took care of the rest.

His lieutenants to deal with the latter two. Left only the dragon problem to him.

"Excuse me-" An unexpected voice took him by surprise.

It was a mortal that seemed not to comprehend he was no longer in the mortal world. Afzal was quite bemused.

"Yes?" He asked.

"I know you must be quite busy, But I seem to have taken a wrong turn. I was at the monster clown exhibit-"

The mortal's eyes of deep ocean blue widened in a awe. "Wow, I guess even managers here get into the spirit."

Afzal had revealed his demonic nature. He had been expecting surprise not pleased awe. This mortal was a strange one.

His robust copper hair was quite.... fetching. Afzal was half-tempted to let limbo deal with him.

But so far limbo hadn't done anything was by itself strange. Afzal pointed to the door.

The mortal beamed at him and shot him a thumbs up. His many neon glow stick bracelets glowing in stark contrast to his all black ensemble.

The strange mortal could wander in limbo for eternity for all he cared but then...

Then the mortal upon reaching the door shifted and walked out into the mortal world.

Afzal blinked. Rubbed his eyes and blinked again. Convinced it was some trick of limbo.

A mortal just casually managed to return to the human world....

That mortal just earned his undivided attention.

He called for one of his bodyguards. There was a shimmer as limbo twisted and suddenly his bodyguard arrived. Its long limbs twitched and upon its face wore a green grinning face. It's only clothing was a tasset and at its side was a large sword.

Afzal handed his bodyguard one of the mortal's glowing bracelets he had telekinetically taken.

"Observe, This strange one and when he sleeps... take him to my suite in the Velvet Rooms." Afzal stated with a smile.

His bodyguard nodded its tall lanky frame taking a silent graceful step and was gone.

"See you soon." He said as stretched adjusted his tie and ensured his suit was impeccable.. "Now where was I? Oh right, checking for dragons. Mangy Bastards"
