A Tale to be Told
A Tale to be Told
I've been lost on this road before
Alone, my feet echo
My only company is the wind
Empty steps walking without aim
Neither dark nor light is seenThe blindness is my own design
A sea of grey carries me on
The ebb and flow a familiar lull
Lost in the pull of my designI let the waves wash over me
The light a dangerous distraction
The darkness a comforting respite
Echoing across the distanceBarely a whisper reaches me
A story that needs to be told
A life that wants to be heard
A spark, a flame so smallA hope that pulls me on
A calling I can't deny
A need that I can't fulfill
On pained knees over shattered glassThrough a river of tears
My heart crushed and lungs laid empty
Without a breath, I begin
Each stroke brings me aliveEach stroke cuts me deeper
My own blood is the ink
Words etched upon my soul
Lashed and brought to bearIn weakness I give my strength
In wakefulness I give my dreams
In fear, I give to you my hope
Now empty and forlornSprawled on the soiled earth
I tear my heart free
And seal it all with a kiss
Laid finally to restSilence consumes me
I weep in gratitude
The story now told
Yet it is never to beFor through the fog I hear it
A whisper on the wind
A new tale that needs to be told.
