Pangea

To all those that do not understand, perhaps this metaphor will help, to all those that do- you aren't alone!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am Great Britain in Pangea,
Once knitted closely to significant others,
Grown and developed in the familiarity,
To then one day look around and see,
That I am entirely alone.
My companions have drifted away,
Pulled by a force unknown.
I can see them in the distance, foreign.
Romanticizing the greatness of our bond,
I wonder, 'Should I swim?'
Could I bear the pain if things were different?
Would things ever be the same?
Would I be a burden,
Chasing those that wish me to go?
Or have we simply outgrown each other?
Why, Oh why can't we rewind time?
Go back to where life was happy,
Where we were never apart
And cling when the first cracks appear;
A childish dream never to be fulfilled.
Or am I dreaming of simpler problems?
Perhaps reality has no unknown force,
Only opinions made and presences withdrawn.
Perhaps I am too much to bear,
Too hard to enjoy...
