Summer Memories

I sat on my parents' patio doodling in my sketchbook, until my cat jumped in my lap, purring and demanding I pet him. As I ran my hand through his soft fur, I took everything in. Laughter, the hum of pleasant conversation, and the clinking of silverware filled my ears. The temperature was cool, and the clouds promised rain. The scents of freshly baked bread pudding, and various barbequed foods mingled in the air. The fajitas and Spanish rice my father made were delicious. I ate and drank with my family and friends, vowing silently to never forget the day.
