Humanity

They saw me gleaming strong against the night

And tried to reach me, forced me to join their fight

My lover called to me begging me still

As I was dragged to them; much to their thrill

Reborn as a slave to their selfish will

My lover was trapped still into the night

Unable to aid me in my terrible plight

No longer his face did reach to my sight

They beat me and starved me until I gave in

Not even realizing the truth of their sins

Into a child my soul was placed

And then my memories they replaced

No longer did I understand

The calls of the stars, sky or land

Eventually I grew and gained one great ally

Fire awoke and taught me to try

Fare well to all of this world so corrupt

I thanked my lover when the mount did erupt

Though he could not walk to where I lay

Still he loved me; my foes he did slay

In the new earth created anew

I was reborn and slowly regrew

Though my divinity has been maligned

My power has grown my emotions designed

When finally my strength has again become great

I tried the skies, to make my escape

But humans had hurt me far too much

And now I was tainted, unable to escape their clutch

In sorrow and grief, away my lover turned

And anew it kindled my fire burned

On this island where I was reborn

I watched the life slowly form

Still I watch with begging eyes

Still I stretch to my lovers skies

Finally centuries later, I see him there

Looking so happy, I can’t help but stare

And as I see him twirling with her

I know I’ve lost him, oh how it hurts

I feel the sorrow grow by the day

And I don’t know why must I pay?

As I watch closer and see his smile,

And to this pain I reconcile

My spirit is fading, my heart is grey

I finally decide the humans must pay

Stealing ones will is a horrendous crime

For the greater good is an evil rhyme

Taking ones choices is the worst of the worst

But humans will do it and enjoy with great thirst

The agony you go through to heal from their greed

They pretend to know more; but never take heed

Nature is calling can you not hear their pleas?

Stop your insanity, grow past these

The nightmares are growing and still I must watch

He now has a child, he thinks of me not

And though he’s avenged me, I feel it still

The anguish that wholly inside me emptiness fills

Slowly it devours all of our souls

Until we are hollow just like clean bowls

The humans devour in their insanity

The gods will watch the growing inanity

I’m finally finished no more must I see

All that humanity has now cost me
