Nobody likes a guy who can foretell the future. Unfortunately for Kyle, he had foretold the future, at least regarding the situation he was currently in. He was standing there, looking down the barrel of Marcus Goff’s .9mm standard police issued Glock, cocked and ready to shoot. Kyle frowned. Maybe he did deserve some type of punishment, a beating or maybe a shot to the leg, but certainly not death. Yes, he had killed someone, two someones if anyone was keeping a body total. Ah, now he remembered. One of his victims had been the young Michelle Patono, an unfortunate woman who he killed with three gunshots to the torso at close range. Michelle was Marcus’s younger sister by birth even if they raised separately; he probably wanted revenge for her death.
“So big brother has come to avenge his little sister’s brutal murder? Too bad you didn’t come a little sooner. Maybe she wouldn’t be floating in that pool down there, dead.” He looked up through brown hair to see the look of rage crossing Marcus’s face. “She deserved it, you know. She slept around with various men, even friends of your father’s simply to get money. She was a drug addict: meth, heroin, cocaine, even prescription pills. She tried it all. She dealt them to make money, sold herself out even. All for her little habit. After a while, she began to desire death; she sought it in numerous ways. She joined multiple websites about suicide and death. She even asked the best methods to commit it.”
He gave a little smirk at the look of denial on the former cop’s face. “That’s how we met. I saw her on a site and gave her some advice. I invited her to the resort this week to give her some face to face advice about it. I planned on helping her died; I just helped her along in a different way.” Kyle looked up again. “Looks like drugs run in the family, don’t they? Weren’t you kicked from the force because you were caught making deals with a drug dealer in exchange for drugs?”
“Shut up!”
Kyle laughed as Marcus yelled. It was moments like this, where emotions were running high and he could see the anguish, despair, and fury in their eyes that made everything better. It was the look of longing for revenge and death in a person’s body language that made him hunt for Hunter, to become his apprentice. Moments like this made him feel like the ultimate gamer, playing a game of life and death. Breaking a person’s soul was the only way to make it to the next level. This must be the reason why Hunter had become a killer. Not only was he a killer, but he was a serial killer that eluded police and the FBI for months now.
“Maybe she did want death, and maybe she didn’t. I guess you can ask her for yourself, can’t you. One less killer will be wandering the streets after tonight.” Marcus gave a dark and chilling smile before pulling the trigger.
BANG!
