The Difference Between Sun & Moon

Prologue:

On a chilly winter night, a piercing cry could be heard throughout the forest. A baby, alone and uncared for, wails its cries of abandonment. The parents of the child, cold and void of love, left her into Death's hands by leaving her for the dark forest to have its way with her...or so they thought. Unknown to many lived a village of mercenaries. A people of a bloody profession: ninjas. The Ryuuketsu clan was infamous and precise executions, but tonight one of their own would show an unnatural act of kindness. A beautiful woman, clad in black and covered in blood, returning from a battle moved swiftly through the forest. As she traveled, she heard the screeches of a baby in the distance. Fatigued and sullen, she pushed on her journey, but the sounds compelled her to find the source producing this desperate sound. Her feet lead her to an opening in the forest where the moon's light showed brightly. Its beautiful beams surrounded the red faced child. There she watched the child determined to live and decided that she would make sure of it. She took the precious baby in her arms and speed off to her village. The thick forest trees hid the ninja fortress. A tall set of doors let to a long, secret entrance. The woman nodded a greeting to the ninjas standing guard which they stared at the baby she carried in tow. Inside the fortress was a maze of buildings. The grunts of fighting and clinging of metal lulled into a peaceful sleep.

Arriving at her destination, the woman opened the door to a beautiful home and took the child to a bedroom, making a soft bed of cloth for the child to rest. "Raina, Welcome home" called a rich baritone voice that filled the house. "Its good to be home" Raina smiled as she embraced her husband, Kenshi Hanzo. He was an interesting man standing at 5'9" with a solid, muscular build. Dark hair and eyes gave way to a rare smile as he looked down at his wife of 10 years. "Kenshi, I need to discuss something with you" Raina moved away from him and looked inside his eyes. "How did your mission go?" Kenshi asked hoping to avoid the impending conversation. He had seen the small bundle resting in his wife's arms as she was walking through the village. His wife had desired children since the beginning of their marriage and they had been unsuccessful. She suffered a terrible injury in their first three years of being married that destroyed any chances of being parents. He knew she wanted to keep the child she had brought home. " Well one of the targets tried to blind me with his own blood. Can you believe the stupid stuff people try to do before they die?" Raina grimaced as she recalled the seen to her memory. " Well he obviously feared his inevitable death and that was his way of coping." Kenshi signed a small breath of relief as the topic was changed for now. He hoped that they could get through the night without this being brought up, but as soon as he assured of clear waters, the child started to cry. "Oh! One moment, Kenshi, I need to check on the child" Raina ran into the room and picked up the child lovingly cuddling her need her bosom rocking her back and forth. The child cooed as her new caretaker soothed the worries way. As the child settled down, Kenshi studied his wife. She seemed to glow from the attention and was in awe of the child. He knew that look well: his wife was in love with the child already. She showed him that look every time their eyes met. This child would be a hard topic. Raina set the child down once she fell back asleep. She turned to her husband with a sincere, yet stern look. "Kenshi, you know I have always wanted a child and on my way home, my prayers were answered. I found the child with the moon beaming down like an angelic light. Please can keep the child?" Raina's eyes look teary, uncommon for a ninja, but she was special. " The child probably won't make it her, Raina" Kenshi thought how to win this losing battle he knew entered. "The child is an outsider and you know how outsiders are treated around here. It is not the best option for her." Kenshi stated hoping his wife would listen to reason. " Yes, I know what its like for an outsider, but that's why I would be able to help the child and the clan adores you so they will value your opinion and decision. Please do this for me, Kenshi" Raina knew that the desperation in her voice was another way she was so different from her husband.

Raina Hanzo was a wisp of a woman. She had a slim figure with B-cup breast and slim hips. Her light brown hair, green eyes, and olive skin caused her problems as far as acceptance as a kid. She was slightly curved, which made her perfect for being a ninja, but she wasn't born into this life. She was found just as she had done this child. Her mother was a sweet, but lethal woman who was recently widowed. She raised Raina to be a great ninja and during her training she met Kenshi, who helped train her as well as accept her for who she was. She wanted to give this child a good childhood and home even if it would be a little tough. "Kenshi, please, I believe we can be great parents and this is our chance." Kenshi knew he couldn't deny his wife, his only real weakness. His wife was soft yet strong, gentle and lethal, and had the determination and endurance of a bull. Maybe he could do this for her and they could be a family, which in his heart, he also wanted for them as well. " Okay, Raina, we will keep the child. What is the sex of the child?" Kenshi smiled as he answered. Raina jumped to hug her husband, but was stopped by a swift hand holding her back. " The child will have to train harder than even you for acceptance, so no being soft on the child all the time and you must let me do the training to ensure the counsel agrees with the methods being taken. The child will not be afforded a lot of mercy darling." Raina stood back and absorbed the words her husband explained to her and smiled with understanding. "I know you will do what you need to do as father and as a ninja. I trust you. I love you." Raina embraced her husband and kissed him lightly. Kenshi deepened the kiss, something he always did, because he did not take for granted that they were both living in the profession they were in. Any moment or any day he could lose his wife and that was something he did not look forward to. Raina finally ended the kiss heading towards the child's room.

She picked up the child and prepared a bath for the child. The coos and soft looks from the child continued to melt her heart. She noticed in the bath that she had a new baby girl." We have to decide on a name my little one. You are a blessing from the moon herself. My little moon child. My own beautiful moon. That's what I shall name you, Mitsuki." Raina took Mitsuki to the old crib craved by Kenshi long ago in the hopes of a family and settled the child. Mitsuki smiled lovingly at her mother and was lured to sleep with an old lullaby. Raina joined her husband in bed with a smile on her face. She finally had the feeling she was searching for. Completion. 'Like a beautiful full moon, I am whole.' were the final thoughts as Raina drifted to sleep.

Ending Note: I will be using some Japanese name( yes some of these will be real Japanese names) and I will leave definitions when i do. Mitsuki = beautiful moon/ Ryuuketsu= blood (i believe, I appreciate corrections). Thanks for reading and please come back!
