The Unexpectantly Eventful Lazy Day

AN: This was a challengefic I wrote for a group on livejournal between two characters from a story I decided not to write. It's really cutesy and light-hearted.

As a basic summary of the two, Peter is a normal, 27-year-old businessman while Dante is 35-year-old, schizophrenic guy who thinks Peter is his old partner, Jonathan.

As always, reviews are appreciated, but I enjoy ratings just as much! I hope you read and enjoy!

Sighing, Peter wondered for the umpteenth time why he had bothered. He'd thought convincing the Doc to let him take Dante to a nearby abandoned park for some fresh air would have been beneficial to the crazy man. Come to find out, it had the opposite effect. Everyone and their brother had decided that THIS day was perfect for coming to that particular park.

Dante didn't interact well with crowds.

As soon as they'd walked into the general area, Dante had stiffened, screamed bloody murder, and run off in a random direction. He'd effectively ruined a little girl's birthday party, knocked over a hot dog cart, and tramped a nursing home's game of croquet before Peter had lost sight of him. After apologizing profusely to the parties that were affected by the larger male, Peter plopped himself down on a lone park bench to sulk.

Sighing again, Peter leaned back against the bench and ran a hand through his blondish locks. He'd just wanted to DO something for Dante. The crazy man seemed to have gotten somewhat better, but was trapped in an endless, boring cycle at the hospital. Peter had assumed that a relaxing day at a quiet park would allow the unruly man a chance to escape reality, at least for a time. That assumption came back to bite him in the ass.

Lifting himself from his seat, Peter wandered aimlessly around the park as the afternoon turned to evening and the sun began to set. The differing groups that were set up began to pack up and go to their respective homes, leaving Peter to his thoughts.

While he was internally berating himself, Peter didn't notice that he'd walked to the top of a grassy hill. Beginning to tilt forward with the angle, the younger male stopped abruptly and stared. The hill gave the perfect view of the setting sun, the sky filled with bursts of oranges and reds.

As Peter smiled to himself at the sight, he didn't notice the screamed "Jon!" until it was too late, and he was slammed into from behind. Losing his balance, Peter fell forwards, taking the newly found Dante with him, and the two rolled down the hill, stopping only when they hit the bottom of the grassy knoll where they ended up in a pile of limbs.

Peter groaned as he attempted to push Dante's heavy self off of his chest, but the bigger man just wrapped his arms around Peter's torso, effectively keeping him pinned to the ground. Peter sighed in exaggerated exasperation, smiling, and pulled his own arms out of Dante's grip.

"Come on, Dante. You need to get off so we can get up." he chided the crazy man, pushing his shoulders so he'd get the hint. Dante just clung harder.

"Don't wanna." Dante mumbled like a child into the younger's chest.

Peter sighed in real exasperation, but the small smile left on his face belied the joy he really felt. A light breeze caught and ruffled their hair and clothes, tickling Peter's face with blades of grass.

The young business man gave in to his desire and wrapped his own arms around the taller, gave his unruly, brown hair a light peck, and gazed toward the sunset.

"Alright. We don't have to get up right this moment." he murmured to the other, and they stayed there on that grassy hill, entangled in the other's embrace, long after darkness fell.
