Warnings: SongFic, NoSex, COMPLETE, OneShot, AFFO A/N: Italics indicate lyrics. Lyrics are by Sunny Sweeny for her song ‘From A Table Away.’ I did not write them and make no claim, monetary or otherwise, to the lyrics. This fic has not been beta’d, so any and all mistakes within are my own, please feel free to tell me them :)“I bet you’d never guess who I saw tonight.
Guess you didn’t see me in those low dim lights..
I knew who she was
By the ring still on her hand.
Sure looked like you wanted to be her man” “Bre, no. I swear, it was nothing like that.” Rafe raked his hands through his hair, staring up at her. He watched her pace the room with angry strides, only stopping to toss the angry accusations at him. “I don’t want her. I swear, all I want is to spend time with you, but she was getting suspicious. I had to do something to keep her quiet until it was time!” “So I guess that means that things are better.
Must not be so bad at home
I thought it looked like you were leavin' but it don't.” “I thought you were staying home tonight, otherwise I never would have taken her there. I know how much you love that place. You said that you were going to stay home and relax for once.” He swallowed hard and ducked as a high heel was winged at him with deadly accuracy. “I promise you, I’m going to leave her. I just got a few more things to work out before I can, you know that! We’ve talked about this time after time.” “And I heard you tell her you still love her
So it doesn't matter what you say
I saw it all from a table away.” Despite her temper, she’d never looked better to him. Color rode high on the pale Irish skin, red hair streaming out behind her as she stalked towards him. “What was I supposed to do? It was all about setting the romance, making her think that she was the only important thing in my life!” Before he knew it, she was right in front of him, finger poking hard at his chest as she yelled at him. “I thought she was pretty, she's nothing like the things you said
The woman you described couldn't even turn your head
The two of you looked lost inside a world all your own
Like you couldn't wait to get her alone”. “You know that you are my sun to my moon, the stars in my night, the rainbow after the end of a storm to me. She may be physically beautiful to some, but I know her personality and that makes her ugly to me.” Rafe tried to pull her in to an embrace, knowing if he could work past the angry passion and turn it desire he would be in the clear. “So I guess that means that things are better
Must not be so bad at home
I thought it looked like you were leavin' but it don't.” Sighing, he hoped she would take it as contriteness, his brain went into overdrive as she pulled away from him to stand over him and scream some more. Things were falling apart fast and his silver tongue didn’t seem to be getting him out of this situation any time soon. “Things are still horrid at home, all she ever does is nag and bitch and moan.” Rafe buried his head in his hands, trying to find a way to diffuse her tempter. “And I heard you tell her you still love her
So it doesn't matter what you say
I saw it all from a table away.” Pushing up from the couch, he stood in front of her. “Listen to me, please. Just listen to me!” He leaned down to nibble at the spot between her neck and shoulder that always had elicited a moan from her in the past. “I love you, just you… She means nothing. Less than nothing!” Shock suffused his face when she pushed him away, hitting his chest over and over with a closed fist, causing him to back away from her. Before he knew it, she was reaching behind him to open the door. With a final shove, he stumbled onto the porch. “Baby, no! Don’t do this!” “And I heard you tell her you still love her
So it doesn't matter what you say
I saw it all from a table away
Yes, you're gonna stay a table away.” When she repeated herself one last time and slammed the door in his face, Rafe stood there for a minute, trying to figure out what had just happened. He’d always done the break up’s. No woman ever dared to break up with him before. As tempting as it was to bang on the door to try and win her back, he just shrugged. There was plenty of other women out there. Walking down the stairs, he pulled out his phone, dialing a number quickly. “Hey Natalie! What are you up to tonight? My meeting ended early, perhaps drinks?”
