Finally home

Komi's earliest memories were of his parents's backs as they walked away. How within a week everything he knew had vanished. Of his siblings screaming and crying as they reached out for him. His fingers just barely missing his edlest sister's. He screamed out their names as they were put in another car and taken away. Teary violet eyes stared up at the man who claimed he now owned him.

~~~~A month later~~~
"Smile, pretty pretty." Komi stared blankly up at the man. It had only been a month since he'd been seperated from his family. After dealing with this person since and dealing with the loss of his family at the same time, he knew he couldn't take much more. Nothing his so called adoptive parent wanted from him pulled a reaction other than disinterest from the six year old.
Later he packed a small bag with some money he'd found, and some food. The old laptop was a bit trickier but he managed. Something to barter, if he never got to learn it like he wanted. Without a glance he slipped quietly out of the house.
~~~~~~~10 years later~~~~~

Komi sighed and pulled a hand through his hair. He'd finished his small job for the day. Small, but it helped pay his half of the rent. He got up, walking across the cool floor to his computer. At sixteen he was the most sought after hacker and info dealer one could find. He'd worked hard and given up a lot to get this status, as Kaiji would often remind him when he got whiny.

His ears flicked as he heard a child's cry of distress just outside the house.

"Kaiji!" He called out, already grabbing two of his preferred knives. The redhead appeared moments later, already armed. Dark violet eyes met paler ones, then they vanished out the door.

As soon as they were outside they worked quickly together to take out the gang. They had surrounded a small, golden haired boy. Komi growled lowly, he knew this particular gang. He and Kaiji had been itching for a good excuse to take them out for awhile.

Kaiji's scream of rage and pain snapped Komi out of his trance. He twisted about too fast and he acquired a new cut across his cheek. Getting rid of the last person he made his way to his friend and the boy.

"Oh Kaiji." He whispered. One of the redhead's ears had a piece taken out and appeared to be wrenched. One of his hands was covering an eye. The other was resting on the back of the boy who'd hidden his face in his shirt. Kaiji's pain filled gaze flicked up to Komi.

"Safe." He murmured. Komi touched his friend's shoulder.

"I'm so sorry." Kaiji gave him a tiny smile.

"Let's get out of here." Komi nodded and took the shaking child, letting Kaiji stand.

~~~~~~~~~~Eight years later~~~~~~
When the boy was 16, they'd learned his name, but he never went by it. The only name he answered to was Mischief. On his birthday that year, he came home helping his friends Jia and Maja walk into the house. He gave Komi an awkward smile and he shook his head.
"Well, seems our family grew." Kaiji's soft laughter at the look on Mischief's face, and that of his friends, drew a wry smile from Komi.
"Yeah, seems like it." Mischief and Komi agreed.
Komi wrapped his arms around the redhead in his lap. One of his hands curled protectively over the gentle curve of the other's belly. He wondered how he had ever missed this man while he'd worked at the temple Komi's little 'family' had ended up in. A place where they'd healed and learned how to heal others.
His content sigh drew the attention of the man on his lap and he glanced curiously over their shoulder at Komi.
He smiled warmly, earning one in return.
"My Chris." Komi purred softly, nuzzling at his neck. Chris chuckled and leaned back against him.
"Yes." Chris answered simply, though Komi thought he sounded amused.
"My baby." It was Komi's turn to chuckle at the look on Chris' face. The baby wasn't his, but Komi had always treated Chris like it was. Once the shock wore off though, the smile that replaced it stole Komi's laughter. The following kiss stole his breath, and he knew he was finally home.
