Silke looked around, blue eyes showing exactly how curious he was. He was supposed to meet his new partner here. It had surprised him when he got the message. After his last partner had gotten weird, he'd left and been doing hunts on his own.
The person waiting for him seemed to be as surprised as Silke was.
"Faust?" As far as Silke knew, he irritated the other as much as he did anyone else. It kept them from getting close. Then again, he wondered how he'd get along with Faust, he had a reputation for being a bit of a bastard.
"Silke?" Faust asked, arching an eyebrow.
"Well, you can't be any worse than the last one." They both said at the same time.

Silke grinned as he watched Faust sigh and run a hand through his short hair. His own long, light red hair was pulled up into a ponytail. Which Faust promptly tugged on when he saw Silke grinning. Ever since their first meeting the two could be found bickering back and forth. Their favorite hobbies being pushing each other's buttons.
"They shouldn't be so shiny and attention grabbing." Faust had told him dryly when he'd asked him about it.
As they walked down the hallway of what qualified as headquarters they could feel someone watching them. When Silke turned to look they were gone. Frowning he turned back to Faust, picking on him some more to make up for the uneasy feeling in his stomach.

"Faust!" Silke called out as he darted towards him, clinging to his back. He cried out as he felt a knife sink into his left shoulder. Faust twisted in his grasp, catching him in one arm as Silke's left arm failed him.
His partner carefully let him down, his pale eyes cold as he faced their last attacker. Silke hissed softly as he felt the knife in his back shift. Another knife came slashing at him. His senses alerted him to the danger too slowly, and he managed to move back at the last second. The tip of the knife cutting across his eyes, drawing a scream of pain and rage from him. His remaining weapon was brought up as Silke lunged forward. Silke's blade sank in deep, blood spilling over his hands.
He heard Faust calling his name but by then he'd lost too much blood. Sound faded and he passed out just as arms curled around him and picked him up.

"A set up, by his ex partner...yeah.."
"Sir, you really don't have to stay here. Silke will be just fine. You should go home and rest, Faust sir...
"I'm giving a report, not leaving. Go waste your time speaking to someone else."
Faust's overly grumpy voice gave Silke a good idea what had been going on as he woke up. He reached up to rub at his eyes, and winced as his fingertips encountered bandages.
"Faust..? Still intimidating medics?" There was a long pause, then Faust's relieved laughter.
"Like I would change, partner."

A few years later, Silke was still working with Faust. Not much had changed except now Silke couldn't play his music for his partner. Or see him, and he'd taken to wearing a long, ruby red silk ribbon over his eyes. Despite his injuries he'd trained even more, focusing on training techniques he'd almost forgotten.
Silke had trained in the dark as he was growing up, his teacher insisting on it. He'd alternately wanted to thank him and curse him for it as he'd been healing. But it had been that type of training that had helped him to retain his position as one of the best hunters there was.
He was grumbling as he walked into the police station. He couldn't believe his boss was making him work with one of the ones there instead of his normal partner. The pay had been very convincing though. That and he'd give Faust a vacation if he did it.
"Hello, can I help you?" He heard an overly cheerful, and loud, woman asking him.
"Yes, I need to talk to Akio."
