Dragon's Mark
Lazriel smiled as he watched lines trace themselves across his lover's back. He soothingly smoothed a hand along Leiko's side, the other wiggling a little at the ticklish sensations.
"That feels...really odd, Laz." Leiko half panted, half giggled. Laz chuckled, he could feel the same thing earlier, as their mating marks had started. His however, had been smaller than Leiko's was turning out to be.
It was highly satisfying, seeing the graceful lines forming his mark. Watching as the soft silver changed occasionally when it met itself. From the top of Leiko's shoulders to his waist, an image of draconic wings came into being. Lazriel reached out, unable to resist tracing the lines.
He was amazed at how they shifted color. Light shades of red, purple, blue, green. Even white and a nearly translucent color. Lazriel knew they represented all the different clan members alive still. He found the red, and thought of Rubiy. Of his little mate Mikale and how well they worked with eachother. How lucky the small one had been to keep his child.
"Laz?" Leiko asked, panting a little as the tickle of the lines moving over his skin stopped.
"The mark is finished, I'm just looking, and thinking." He said, leaning over and kissing Leiko softly. His hand moved again, and he found the darker green. The shade representing Emeralis. One could hardly think of him without thinking of Ritsu, and how good this new mate was for Emeralis. The two helping eachother to heal.
"You have wings now, Leiko." Lazriel murmured, looking at a pale green. Jade would have his work cut out, helping Makoto and his little son. He would do just fine though. Jade was better at being caring than he gave himself credit for.
"Wings? Really?" Leiko wiggled again and Lazriel gently held him in place for a moment.
"I'll let you see in a moment." He said, grinning down at Leiko. The pout he received in return was too cute and he kissed the middle of Leiko's back.
Ice blue caught his eye and Lazriel's gaze softened. The small healer and his lover had had twins. That wasn't very rare for Fala's bloodline. What had been amazing was that Fala had carried them both to term. They'd have to go visit soon.
Purple was next, and he found his thoughts caught by Amay's lover first. Eiji had sent him and Leiko the newest volume in the series he was writing. The two really were amazing. And Leiko thought it was cute how the characters in the story were obviously based on Eiji and Amay.
"Thinking about the others?" Leiko asked quietly as he looked up over his shoulder.
"Yes. The colors here, remind me of them. And prove you'll be a great mate." Leiko blushed and hid his face so Lazriel chuckled and moved on.
There was shimmering black along the edges and his smile slipped a little as he thought about Onyx. He was sure the other would find someone, but for now, he knew the other dragon was lonely. Hiding it behind his sunglasses and his smile when he spent time with Lazriel and Leiko.
The gold made him want to laugh. Citrin had finally gotten his lover, Lazriel had found out, by getting into a brawl and ending up in the hospital. "Most rewarding fight ever." Citrin had admitted to Lazriel once.
Swirling greens caught his attention, and he smiled and shook his head a bit at the thought of the one dragon who still lived continuously by the sea.
A line that couldn't seem to decide what color it wanted to be shimmered and Lazriel thought of Hisoka. He hoped he would come back to them soon.
A deeper blue moved him to a faint sadness. He wondered if Safaia would ever wake up. The blow dealt to the sapphire blue dragon had been hard. Not the only one to lose a mate, but he was the only one to lose both mate and child. He'd been sleeping for so long, he'd need a teacher when he woke.
The white gave him pause, because he could only think of one white dragon. His son, who they believed to be dead. But he didn't believe the color would be there if he was. It was time to talk to the hunters.
The translucent lines of Aisu made him shake his head and wonder if the blind dragon was ever going to find someone who would make him want to see again.
Gold laced blue drew his attention to an outer edge of the wings. Lapiz, their secret keeper. A forbidden child who loved strongly and protected everyone with all he had.
The very pale red amused him the most though. He'd never thought to encounter a descendant of dragons in the area but, Silke was a credit to them. Both him and his partner Akio. He still wasn't sure who had been more shocked. The dragons, or Silke and Akio.
He finally gave in to Leiko's wiggling and picked him up. Leiko meeped and wrapped his arms around his neck.
"I could have walked." Leiko smiled at him though, and Lazriel already knew his small mate liked being carried. He stopped in front of their full length mirror. Leiko looked over his shoulder and gasped. The delicate, shimmering wings taking up most of the space on his back.
"I see, why you liked the colors so much. They really do remind you of the others." Leiko nuzzled against Lazriel's neck, and Lazriel smiled at him. He caught his mouth in a gentle kiss. Fascinated as he was by his mark on Leiko's back, it was still all about his love of the person it was on.
