Sakishi's past

Sakishi stared at the cousins surrounding him. Well, he'd been told to call them cousins when he'd been adopted by the patriarch of their family. Their rich uncle had found him at an orphanage, raising him from when he was only eight. He was always near his side during the eight years he'd been there. Because the other wanted someone around him not just after his money as he got sicker and sicker.

"I d-don't understand...I'm not going to get anything... you can have the inheritance.." He meant it, he couldn't care about all the money or businesses. All Sakishi wanted was for Loriao to get better.

One of the boys around him suddenly rushed at him, distracting him from his thoughts and making him flinch back. Too late he remembered the sharp, short knob on the tree. He felt it poke his shoulder just before the boy slammed into him. A scream was ripped from his throat as the wood pierced his shoulder.

Everyone around him froze in panic, but he barely noticed. He tried to reach out towards them. It hardly twitched at his side.

"Help..." He whimpered. One of them licked his lips and moved towards him. His move shocked the others into motion, all of them running off in different directions.

The last was Kinko, if his fuzzy and pain addled mind remembered correctly. Sakishi was trying to cry quietly, as his earlier sobs had just made the shoulder hurt more. He couldn't bring himself to move away from the tree he'd been pierced by.

He looked up at Kinko, big green eyes full of tears. "I'm sorry." He heard the other say softly, though it hadn't been fully his fault. He sniffled as a warm arm slipped about him, a hand working its way between his shoulder and the tree.

"This is going to hurt..try to be still." He heard Kinko murmur. Sakishi could feel the blood soaking his shirt. He was trying so hard not to tense that he was shocked as he was suddenly pulled forward.

He could hear a roaring in his ears as he nearly passed out from the new wave of pain. Sakishi could barely feel it when Kinko picked him up and ran towards the main house. His dazed mind remembering that's where his uncle was, along with his hated aunt. The two had adopted him, but she never treated him as anything but some sort of toy she could hurt.

When they were turned away by her, without so much as a moment's hesitation, he wasn't really surprised.

"Who was it..?" He heard Loriao ask weakly as the door closed.

"Kinko and Sakishi, some minor detail." Kinko's hands clenched a little tighter at that, drawing another whimper from Sakishi.

"We'll get you patched up, don't worry." Kinko said softly, swallowing hard. Two more of the cousins showed up, their odd hair colors making them easy to spot. The smaller was biting his lower lip, holding a small first aid kit. The bigger started leading them to a small room.

"They're...they're not going to call anyone." Kamoku said softly.

"Figures the adults care even less than their children did." Futeki muttered as he opened a door. Sakishi barely awake as he listened to them. When he was sat down on Kinko's lap he barely flinched. Futeki pulled his shirt off with some help from Kamoku. His lax body was shifted around, exposing his back to the two cousins.

Kinko encouraged him to try and wrap his arms around him. It didn't sink in what they had planned until he felt his back and shoulder being cleaned. Soft, but angered voices reached his ears about the various scars already there.

"I'm sorry." Kamoku whispered, and Sakishi felt the first prick of the needle. He clenched Kinko's shirt as he was sewed up, cries muffled by Kinko's shoulder. The last thing he heard before passing out was their worried voices.

Futeki looked over at Kinko. "He's probably going to need it looked at but...the so called adults won't likely let him. Loriao is the only one who would have made them do something."

"I should have stopped them..but.." Kinko sighed and Kamoku patted his shoulder.

"At least you didn't leave him." He said softly before cleaning Sakishi's shoulder and back again.

"Don't take him back to his room unless you're staying there." Futeki said as he led Kamoku back out of the room.

A month and a half had passed since his shoulder had been injured. He'd finally been seen by a doctor during those weeks, but only because he'd snuck into Loriao's room when his had come to check on him. Loriao had been furious with his wife when he'd seen the new injury, and all the previous ones. The patch created by the wound about the size of his palm and Kamoku having to stitch it up.

The doctor had praised the small, even stitches. But even he had been ready to hunt down the aunt when he realized there was a large spot on Sakishi's left shoulder that had no feeling anymore. Loriao had calmed him by promising he'd take care of it.

Sakishi didn't care anymore. Loriao had died, after making sure his wife would let Sakishi in to see him every day. He'd been called in to hear the reading of the will, even though he had no real urge to listen. Sakishi was only moving because Kinko, Futeki, and Kamoku had flanked him and went with him to face the rest.

There was no need to ignore looks, when he didn't even notice them sent his way. He just stared blankly at the lawyer at the head of the table.

"Now that everyone is here, I will begin with the reading of the will."

"Start with who is the main inheritor." Aunt Zenia demanded. Not looking sorry or sad at all that her husband was dead. Even the lawyer gave her an odd look.

"In light of recent events, Loriao Chrisaon had his will changed. The main inheritor of his estates, businesses, and money, has been split." He pulled out a small piece of paper and started to read from it.

"In an effort to care for the ones who truly cared for me. And to appease those who demanded I chose family to inherit, I have chosen this as the best course of action. Those going to inherit are the ones who have cared for Sakishi the best and the most. Who are the best at what they do. Kinko, and Futeki receive everything on the conditions that they continue to care for Kamoku and Sakishi."

There was stunned silence in the room, even on the part of the three who'd followed him in. So he was reassured they'd had no idea he'd do something like that.

"What about us?" Zenia and the rest started talking all at once, wanting to know about theirs.

"It's up to Kinko and Futeki what happens to you and whether you get anything. He literally left everything to them. Officials will be there for anything you take with you if they decide you may not continue living on their properties." He gestured to Sakishi and the others to leave as he stood up.

"What are you going to do?" Many voices asked.

"We'll care for you as much as you did for us." Futeki said in a cold voice as the door slipped shut behind them.

"I'll be fine, really." Sakishi said, smiling softly at the others. Kinko, Futeki, and Kamoku, had already been taking care of him for so long it felt like. Only about four years, he thought he was ready to be out on his own. Now he just had to make his protective family see that.

"We're still going to check on you." Futeki muttered.

"At least we've already set up an account for you awhile ago.." Kinko smiled back at him. They'd worry, but at least they'd know where he was.

"If anything happens you had better call." Kamoku said with a small chuckle as he adjusted his coat. "I have to go, be careful.." He gave Sakishi a quick hug and vanished off to his practicals. None of them had been surprised when he'd decided to study medicine. A nurse had been a bit of a surprise, but not the field of study.

Futeki and Kinko had split the responsibilities of the different businesses there were to be run. Sakishi hadn't really thought about it but, they had done well so far. It had been nice of them to take time to help him move into his new place. He hugged Kinko and Futeki before they too had to leave. Sakishi had no idea why they'd bought him a new bed but, he loved the thing. Blushing a bit as he went to lay on it again, he thought it might be nice to finally find someone to share it.
