The Broken Path

THE BROKEN PATH

Without shelter we stand upon this hill,
Saying do as thy will.
As grass bends and branches sway,
We wait upon this rise looking for the way.

Hand-in-hand we stand,
Watch our paths form from the sand.
Here we must part and walk alone,
If we join again I don't know,
I will hold out hope.

Wishing on the earth and looking to the stars,
Promises broken and mended are ours.
Fork upon fork and choice upon choice.
Our lives ramble over mountain and peak,
Leads to the cliffs where I must leap.

I cannot turn back so spread my arms and fall,
Plummet to the sea and sink to the floor,
There my love awaits me once more.
