Chapter One:
The airport in Tokyo was crowded with people just as he expected. Sena Katsumi grabbed his luggage and looked around for his sister. He smiled when he remembered how happy she had been two weeks ago when he told her over the phone that he was coming back. Five years ago, he had left Tokyo straight after finishing high school to study abroad, and now he was returning just like he had promised her.
“Where is she?” Sena murmured as his light brown eyes wandered the crowded terminal looking for his older sister. He lifted one hand to brush his dark brown hair to the side and then he saw her. She was wearing a red jersey and her long hair was tied back in a ponytail. It looked to him like she had come straight from the gym.
“Sena!” his sister called out when she saw him. She ran over and almost knocked him down when she slammed into him and hugged him tightly.
“I missed you so much!”
“I missed you too Akari, but you are going to kill me if you don't let go of me,” Sena told his sister with a chuckle.
Akari laughed and let go of her brother then she grabbed his oval face and pinched his cheeks till they turned red.
“That hurt Akari,” murmured Sena.
“It’s more than you deserve for being away so long," said his sister when she let go of his cheeks. “Come on, let’s go. My husband’s brother is waiting for us outside.”
“Just lead the way,” Sena said as he started to follow his sister out of the terminal.
“So, what is your husband like?” Sena asked his sister. His sister had gotten married two years ago. Sena had been invited to the wedding, but he had been unable to make it because of exams and so he never got to meet his brother in law.
Akari’s eyes beamed with happiness. “He is the most wonderful man out there Sena. He is everything that I want in a man. He is kind and he showers me with love, and he says that he doesn't care that I’m fat.”
“Sis, you’re not fat. You are perfect, not too skinny and not too fat. You’re right in the middle Sis,” Sena told his sister. “All those men who rejected you before just because of the way you looked were idiots.”
Akari laughed loudly, “My husband said the same thing. Now I know for sure that you are going to like him Sena.”
“I'm sure that I will Sis and I can't wait to meet him,” said Sena as they walked past an old couple.
“And his older brother is just as wonderful Sena. The man paid for our wedding when we didn't have enough, and he even said that we didn't have to pay him back. Isn't he great?”
“Yes he does sound like a great man Sis. I can't wait to meet him as well,” Sena told his sister.
“You won't have to wait long to meet him, he is right there,” Akari said and pointed to a man smoking a cigarette with his back against a white BMW.
Sena’s heart slammed against his chest and his eyes widened. That man couldn't be who he thought he was. There is no way that bastard was the brother in law of his sister. The closer they got, the wider his eyes became. Shit, that bastard really was his sister’s brother in law.
“Keigo!”
“Akari,” Sena heard the bastard respond to his sister before turning his dark brown eyes to him.
“Sena this is--” Akari began and Sena interrupted his sister right away.
“There is no need to introduce us Sis, we have already met,” Sena told his sister. The bastard smirked at him.
“Really?” said Akari. “How did you two meet?” she asked them.
“I don't remember,” Sena replied to his sister as Keigo threw his cigarette on the ground and put it out with the heel of his shoe.
“I almost didn't recognize you Sena. Did you shrink? I seem to recall that you were a lot taller,” remarked Keigo.
“If I am getting shorter then you must be getting older,” Sena retorted. “Oh my, is it just my eyes or is that a wrinkle I see on your face?” he added just to spite the man.
“I don't remember you being such a brat five years ago,” remarked Keigo as he opened the door to his car for Akari.
“And you are still an asshole, just as I remembered,” Sena retaliated.
“But that’s what you like about me,” Keigo countered.
“You two stop it already!” Akari interrupted them, no longer able to stand still and listen to their childish bickering.
“Sena put your luggage in the trunk,” Akari ordered in a sharp tone. “And get in the car!”
“I would rather take a taxi then get in his stinky car,” said Sena.
“Suit yourself,” said Keigo, and he walked around to the driver side and got into the car.
“Sena get in don't be such a brat. I don't know why you two are like this with each other but I--”
“Akari, sorry for being such a brat, but no matter what, I refuse to have anything to do with him. Have a safe trip home and don't worry about me. I'll call my friend to pick me up.” He smiled and closed the door for his sister. Then he walked away with his luggage as his sister watched from inside the car.
“Keigo,” Akari began.
“Don't ask Akari,” said Keigo who knew what Akari wanted to ask him.
“All I will tell you is this, he is right, I am an asshole.” With that said, he stepped on the gas and drove away.
----------
Sena stepped out of the taxi, took his luggage from the trunk and walked to his sister’s front door. As he was about to knock, the door swung open and he came face to face with his sister’s worried face.
"Sena, your eyes are red, did you cry?" said Akari as she hugged him.
“I didn't cry Sis,” Sena reassured his sister as he pulled away from her. “I shared a taxi with this old lady and she just happened to have a bunch of flowers with her. You do remember that I am allergic to flowers Akari?"
“Damn, and I wanted to comfort you too.”
“Maybe next time Sis,” said Sena with a laugh.
“Stop laughing and get in already,” Akari snapped with a warm smile.
----
One hour later, Sena stood in the room his sister had prepared for him. The room was big and filled with hardwood furniture. There was a big window that allowed him to look out to the garden below him. He neatly folded his clothes and put them away in the drawers. Then he walked back and lay down on his single bed. As his head hit the pillow, he fell asleep right away.
----
“I was going to ask you if your brother had arrived, but from the look on your face I guess there is no need to ask,” Akari’s husband said to her when she greeted him at their front door.
“I am very happy that he has returned Yuto. When he was away I couldn't help but worry about him.”
“Now that he is here, you can stop worrying,” said Yuto as he ushered his wife to their living room.
“Yuto, I might be over thinking this, but my brother seems a bit different.”
"Akari, your brother has been gone for five years," Yuto reminded his wife. "People change Akari. The weak little brother that you knew back then has returned home a changed man. You should be happy for him."
"You’re right," sighed Akari.
---
Keigo lay in bed with his son asleep next to him. He shut his eyes, trying to fall asleep, but his mind was filled with Sena. With a sigh he slowly got out of bed and went into his office. He sat down and opened his drawer. He pulled out what he was looking for. He set the picture on his desk and stared at it with a smile as his hand traced the face of the person in the picture. Regret and guilt filled his heart deeply. “Why did you come back?” he murmured.
---
“If you leave me, I’ll die Keigo. I can't live without you!” a crying Sena pleaded as he tried to hang on to the man he loved.
Keigo laughed coldly. “My God, you really are pathetic Sena. Don't you get it? I lied. I fucked your ass to win a bet, and now thanks to you, I made quite a bit of money.”
“You said that you loved me!” Sena screamed out loud, unwilling to accept the truth, as tears flowed down his face blurring his vision.
“That was a lie Sena, my God you really are naïve!” Keigo said with a cold laugh. Then he tossed a red envelope at Sena’s face.
“What’s this?” Sena asked with tears still running down his cheeks.
“It’s my wedding invitation. Don't forget to attend. I will make sure to introduce you to some of my friends who don't mind fucking a guy up the ass,” Keigo said with a cruel smile on his lips.
Sena, no longer able to take it, ran out of the hotel room and fell to his knees as soon as he was outside. Ignoring the pouring rain, he wailed out in agony, slamming his forehead on the hard cement.
“Sena! Sena! What happened? Why are you out here in the rain? Didn't you go to see your boyfriend?”
Sena lifted his head and looked up, his eyes filled with pain and sadness. His heart had been shattered into a million pieces and could no longer be put back together again. “Seiya... why? Why did he do that to me..."
“It’s alright Sena. Forget that bastard he doesn't deserve you. Lets go. Let’s get you out of the rain.”
-----------
Sena woke up with tears in his eyes. He wiped them away and got out of bed and went downstairs.
“Good Morning”
Sena was surprised to see his sister’s husband awake this early in the morning.
“Good Morning to you too,” he uttered.
“I guess you know who I am huh?”
“Yes, you’re my sister’s husband,” replied Sena.
Yuto smiled at Sena and sat down with his cup of coffee.
“Now that I am meeting you face to face, I must say that you look different from your picture.”
“What do you mean?” Sena asked Yuto.
“Your sister showed me pictures of you because you were her adorable little brother. When I looked at those pictures of you, I must say that you looked weak and--”
“Enough! You don't know anything about me. Don't judge me by my picture!” Sena yelled out in anger slamming his fist on the dining table.
“What is going on?” Akari asked as she entered the kitchen in her pink night gown.
“Nothing,” replied Sena as he got up and went back up stairs.
“Alright Yuto, what did you do?” Akari asked her husband with a frown.
“I didn't do anything,” replied Yuto. Then he got up and gave his wife a kiss on the cheek before he went off to work.
"Sena, where are you going?” Akari asked twenty minutes later after her husband left for work. Her brother had come down wearing blue jeans with a red shirt and a black jacket.
“Out, I’ll be back home for dinner,” answered Sena as he shut the door behind him.
Akari sighed, shook her head and went upstairs.
---
"I can't believe this! You really are back Seiya," a man said as he sat down.
“Yes,” replied Seiya right before he sipped his coffee. “How is your wife brother?”
“Hehe, my wife and I are expecting our first child,” replied his brother. "Hey Seiya, why don't you come home now that you are back?” his brother asked him.
“No, not yet. Not until I fulfill his last wish,” answered Seiya softly.
“You know, sooner or later the truth will come out,” his brother pointed out to him.
“Until then I will remain where I am. Don't try to talk me out of it.”
His brother sighed. “You know if I never took you to the art gallery that day, you would never have met him.”
“But you did, and I met him. Even if you didn't take me to the art gallery that day I would have run into him eventually. Even Mom says so.”
“You’re right,” his brother agreed and went silent for a moment. “Shit, none of this would have happened if that bastard father of ours didn't take him away from us,” his brother cursed.
“He is already dead, which is just what he deserved for what he did to Mom,” said Seiya.
“Seiya, why are you doing all of this?” His brother asked him out of curiosity. “I mean I am sad too. He is my brother as well, but for you to go this far? I mean how can you be near them knowing that they were the ones--”
“Because we were born together,” Seiya cut in and stood up. He walked away from the busy cafe.
----
Seiya stood in front of the grave with fresh flowers in his hand. He knelt down and placed the bouquet on the grave.
“Oh, I haven't seen you for quite a long time young man.”
Seiya stood up and smiled at the man beside him.
“So where have you been? I remember you coming here every day.”
“I went to study in England,” replied Seiya. “Today is my first day back,” he added.
“On your first day back, you came here? You must be very close to this person,” said the man.
“He is my brother. My twin brother. We were supposed to go to England together, but sadly he wasn't meant to,” answered Seiya sadly, then he turned around and walked away.
“What is your name young man?” the man called out after him.
“Sena,” replied Seiya as he walked away.
