A Wish True

Note: * - Means thoughts have been written down.

I know it isn't Christmas yet, but I thought I'd put it up now. Just a little short thing but I hope you all like it. Please comment and/or rate if you do like it. Thanks and Merry Christmas :)

*This is what it’s like then. To be so far away from the one you love, yet so damn close. Why do I have to feel like this? He will never, ever see me as anything else. Friendship Eyes. That’s what I look back at, every single moment we share. Friendship, friendship, friendship…it hurts. Why does something that represents happiness hurt so much???*

Mikey paused, noticing the wetness spreading in a little circle on the page, smudging those question marks ever so slightly. He stared at it, taking a moment to realise that it was a tear, that a cold, damp trail was slowly drying on his pale cheek.

His left hand gripped the journal tightly, beginning to tremble. He cursed and threw the pen across the room; he watched it crash into the wall and fall to the carpeted floor with a blurry, hazel gaze. “Idiot…” he muttered to himself and closed the journal, stuffing it back under his bed. His dyed black hair fell over his eyes as he got up and walked over to the small window, opening it so he could get some cold, fresh air, hoping to freeze the tears threatening to spill.

For a long time he stood there, hooded eyes staring out at the dark streets below, picking out the many trails of footsteps in the snow. After a few minutes, tiny snowflakes began to fall. Mikey sniffed, blinking up at the night sky and smiling a little at the sight. He reached out a hand to capture some of the falling snow, but the flakes melted just before they connected with his warm skin.

“Another Christmas alone…great” he sighed heavily, the cold making his breath come out in a mist. Scowling, he yanked the window shut and locked it, turning away from the scene of peace outside that had been so soothing just moments ago. Being twenty-one years old and never having a boyfriend…or girlfriend, maybe, to spend Christmas with, was really starting to bug him. Every guy he attracted only wanted sex, any girl he showed interest in only wanted to be pampered. Was there any human being out there that wasn’t so self-absorbed? Someone he could actually love… and be loved back, of course. Which ruled out the one person he could think of straight away.

Tall, pale and just…gorgeous. Sharp blue eyes, dark brown hair. Mikey had memorized every part of his face. And of course, his body.

He walked over to his ipod dock and selected a play list. When the first, slow tune rang out, followed by the Finnish singer’s soft, soulful voice, Mikey swayed on the spot, eyes closed and lips parting as he mimed the words. The song, ‘Love’s Requiem’ was one of his favourites that he played over and over again. He jumped when a whisper in his ear interrupted the perfect, sad images in his head. He turned to see him standing right there. His best friend, the tormenter of his life, the man that haunted his every dream; every thought.

“Your mother let me in, I hope you don’t mind” Nick said quietly. Mikey could only hear him because he was standing so close, his eyes level with the taller boy’s chin. His large eyes travelled upwards, finding the blue gaze that always sent shivers of pleasure down his spine every time they looked at him.

“So, it’s Christmas Eve. I thought we could share it together…” Nick seemed to struggle a little in saying this, but his knee-melting smile gave the quiet, shaky words more of an impact. It was then that Mikey noticed that his friend had his arm held up above them. He glanced up and felt his whole body go still at the sight of the mistletoe clasped between Nick’s long pale fingers, hovering above their heads with expectation.

Mikey swung his surprised gaze back to the beautiful face in front of him, searching, hoping, unbelieving. “Nick…” his name came out as a content sigh, as soft lips pressed to his own. Strong arms held him gently in a warm embrace, and he pressed closer to the warmth as the sweet kiss became more intense, more passionate…more mind-blowing.

It seemed that it didn’t last long enough, because soon he was resting his head on Nick’s shoulder, both of them trying to catch their breaths. “You know I love you right?” his best friend said, a smile in his voice. Mikey smiled too as he replied, “Yeah, I know”.
