The Chaos That Comes From Lies and Love
Prologue:
Everyone had their own theory on what would happen in 2012. Maybe we should have listened to the people everyone thought was crazy. On Dec. 21, of the year 2012, just as many had been predicted, our world did end. It didn’t end with earthquakes, floods, or volcanoes. It ended with a crack.
As many scientists had theorized, there were other universes parallel to ours. In these universes were people who looked like us, sounded like us, but weren’t us. Their scientists had figured out how to crossover by creating cracks in between the two universes. They called themselves the Amosu, which meant conquerors in whatever language they spoke.
The Amosu had crossed into our universe for only one reason: survival. Their universe was dying and they needed ours to continue living. At first they just killed us off but later they decided we would make better soldiers and slaves than carcasses to clean up. They implanted chips in a person’s brain and completely destroyed his or her will. The chips became known as SoulEaters. Once the Amosu had gained control of our universe, they decided to set up a society much like the one that had been established before the Amosu had come. Only this time, the Amosu controlled everything. The rules were simple and ruthless; you say something bad about the Amosu, you get a SoulEater. You commit a crime, you get a SoulEater. You join the Resistance, you get tortured and then get a SoulEater.
The Resistance rose up in the second year of the Amosu’s reign. First led by a man named Ray Lasko, they tried their best to fight against the enemy’s superior weapons. It failed. After Ray was implanted with a SoulEater and made to kill his entire family in a public display, the resistance scattered.
It is now the 7th year of the Amosu’s reign, the year 2019. Out of the 10 billion that had made it to 2012, only 3 billion retain their free will. The rest are in the Amosu armies, dead, or missing. There are whispers that the resistance is raising again. That there will once again be freedom. But if the Amosu find you listening to those, you get a SoulEater.
Every once and awhile you’ll find something that will remind you of how the earth once was but you have to look away and move on. You can’t survive thinking about the past. You have to make a way in this new world. You have to support yourself. If you can’t, you get a SoulEater. Back then you could do whatever; waste away, struggle through, get help, pick your own goals. Now everyone has one goal. Survive.
