In a bar at the casino Roulette a young girl of twenty six was working serving drinks to customers. Red hair that looked like spun copper fell down this girl's back as she began the mixings of a martini, and green eyes flashed with humor as she listened to the story of one of the men who made a trip down to the bar every other week. Nimble hands shaking the mixture in the container she spoke, " Well Suga you had better be telling the Missus how much you truly care for her." As she poured the drink she then accepted the tip, and went to the next.

Hours flew by as the drinks were made, people were spoken with, and drawls were ended. Finally two a.m. rolled around and one of the bouncers came to her speaking, " Tempest head on home I'll close up for tonight." The young woman nodded as she went to the back room and began to change out of her uniform, and back into street clothes. Laying the uniform back into the locker once she was finished changing she then began to fill her pockets with the things she had tossed in the locker.

Within ten minutes the young bartender was once again Tempest Devine common nobody. As she walked to her home nearby she listened to the sounds around her. Feet rushing home, cars driving by, cats yowling, and spouses fighting up above her. What she didn't expect to hear was a small cry for help coming from the ally, and the curious person that she was she began to walk towards the darkened ally. Following the cries to the back she cried out as something hit the back of her neck, and the last thing she heard was " That should teach curious bitches like you to mind your own business." As her world went black she knew that she would be dead come morning, and with that thought she soon blacked out.

Men hollering, horses whinnying, wheels turning, and children shouting were the sounds she woke up to. Raising up a hand went to her head as she stood up and looked around. No longer was there trash in the ally. It was pretty clean except for there was a dirt floor instead of cement, the buildings around her were made out of wood instead of brick, and the air was clean instead of saturated in smog. Looking herself over to find she was still in her clothes, luckily, she walked out of the ally to find help for the bump on the back of her head.

Once she stepped out of the ally her eyes widened as she looked around her, and before she could stop it she spoke. " Toto we're not in Nevada anymore" however her little shot at humor was overheard by a man walking away. When he said, " Little Miss your still in Nevada." Hearing that she burst out laughing as she shook her head slowly before speaking, " No I can't be. Las Vegas, Nevada doesn't have this whole little scene." As she spoke her horror grew as she noticed the confusion on the man's face, and looking around she read one sign that could help her where it came to pain.

Walking carefully across the street her casual attire bringing her wild eyed stares she walked over to Doc's. Stepping into the Doctor's office she was surprised that the lobby was empty, and so she was taken in to have the bump checked. Sitting there as he worked she then spoke, " Um can you tell me where I am?" Hearing the doctor behind her laugh jollily before speaking, " Well Darlin you are in Nevada. The date is the twenty eighth of August of the year eighteen hundred and ninety one." As the words rushed through her ears the new time traveler laughed hysterically. " You have got to be kidding me doc? Did Bosco put you up to this because I was a little late to the meeting on Holiday themes?" Praying desperately that that was the answer it was crushed as she heard, " Who in the nine circles of Hell is Bosco?"

Shaking her head she then spoke, " Nobody that you know of. Can I get something for my head it feels as if someone is playing the drums in my skull." Not even caring about the confused look that she was given she took the bottle he gave her and rose up. Setting the bottle into her back pack that she used as a purse she then headed right towards the center of the town. A place where everyone gathered and she had the most knowledge of, the saloon. Walking inside she looked at the wall to see an old black and white of the owner before she began to look for the man. Once she spotted him she moved forward, but stopped as she saw him.

Reddish gold hair that had streaks of bleach blonde threaded through, curled in the ponytail that it was kept. Matched with the beard and mustache that he was sporting, and light sea green eyes that she was currently trapped in. As she stared at the man he stood up showing to be six foot five a good foot taller then she was, and as he looked down at her he spoke, " Can I help you?" When she nodded he snorted and had been about to sit back down his eyes having turned darker with agitation, but he heard, " I would like a job as a bartender here at the Saloon."

The man smirked as he spoke, " My name is Jeremiah you may call me Jerry. As your little plaque there states Miss Tempest Divine you have shown no manners at all. You didn't introduce yourself, you stared, and your attire is unfit for a woman. However I will give you the weekend to prove to me how great of a bartender you really are. Fail me and you hit the streets, but seeing as you are new in town the time you are asleep you will have a room upstairs for yourself. Now go get some sleep you start tomorrow."

Tempest, grateful for the break in her bad luck, thanked him greatly before she followed him up the stairs. Walking in and seeing a nice little room she thanked Jerry once more before she moved to the bed. Stripping down to her underwear she curled under the blankets and fell asleep to the mass of noise going on downstairs..
