Chapter 1
Hey everyone, thank you for deciding to check out my story. Hopefully you'll enjoy it. Just to let you know, there will be some words in either Greek or Mandarin (Chinese) throughout the story. This is because in this story, the two main characters use Greek and Mandarin as a spoken language, but don't worry, it will be mostly in English, with only a few phrases thrown in here and there. There will be a guide at the bottom to what was said. Thanks again for reading! Let me know what you think!
Pain. His whole body rang with pain. The chains holding his arms above his head wrenched his wounded shoulder, and stretched his broken ribs. All he could see was blood, and a shadow of what was around him. He could barely keep his eyes open. He hoped he would not survive the night.
The sound of creaking metal roused his tired mind, as he tried to blink past the blood and pain. Two powerful humans came into his cell and began to lift him by his arms, unlocking his chains as they started to drag him from his cell. He stifled his pained cries just barely, as their movements shook his broken body.
Soon, he was dragged through the door to the dungeons, and light filled his vision, burning his eyes. He had been dragged outside, and even with his dulled senses, he could feel the many nobles around him. A hearing. To decide his fate.

“Demon Abaddon, only surviving male of the Shadow Clan. He is charged with murder of a lower noble, the third son of Lord Yue, brother to the King. Does anyone deny the charges?”
Sorrow filled her heart at hearing her brothers name. Her surprisingly blue eyes fixed themselves on her brothers murderer, who kneeled before them, held up by two of their soldiers. Blood covered his dark skin, skin that could have rivalled the beauty of the night sky, even his black hair was streaked with blood as his head hung limp against his chest.
Hearing the judge ask if anyone denied the charges, his head slowly rose, and his gold eyes locked on hers. The metal mask covering his nose and mouth kept him quiet, not allowing a single sound past his lips.
“He cannot be killed. As the last surviving member of the Shadow Clan, he is their ruling Lord. We cannot allow this once powerful race to disappear.” argued one Lord, and many seemed to agree with him.
“He killed my son! I will have his head!” shouted her father, rising from his seat
“A third son? His life is not needed, you have more than enough heirs without him.”
She knew her father. He cared not about his children, only about what they could bring him. Sons brought power and stability. Daughters brought money when they were sold to the highest paying lords. He wanted the demon dead because he was a threat. And for some reason she couldn’t keep her eyes off him.
Eventually they decided to let the demon live, and he was dragged back to his cell.
“Father Lord, please allow me to tend to the demon’s wounds, as the council has decided to let him live.” she asked, and his only response was a nod as he turned and walked from the meeting.
She would find out more about this demon she felt so drawn to.

A loud screech woke him from his troubled sleep. His eyes snapped open as the door to his cage was opened. He had no idea how long it had been since the council met and decided to live, though he felt it had been days, and his strength had barely started to return to him.
After a moment the smell of jasmine hit his weakened nose, and he looked up to see the woman from the meeting, with the ivory hair and sparkling blue eyes looking down at him. She was beautiful, but not to be trusted, as a growl leaked quietly from his chest as he tried to sit up a little, to defend himself.
“Calm yourself demon.” she said, and her voice relaxed him slightly with its beauty, “I have no desire to harm you. Only to help clean your wounds.”
She moved towards him again, as he growled his warning to her. He didn’t like the situation.
“My name is Mei-Xiu. Yours is Abaddon?” She asked as she knelt in front of him, extending her hands to the wound on his shoulder, before pulling them back as he weakly nipped at her. However, she saw he was no threat. His breathing was shallow, and the wound on his shoulder was still bleeding. He could barely hold himself up.
She knelt before him as the seconds passed, and after a moment he slumped back against the wall, too exhausted to fight her anymore. To think he was losing to a female. For now he would let her do as she wished.
Moving closer to him, she touched his shoulder and heard a pained gasp. The wound was deep and infected. She could see bone through the blood and pus leaking from it. It would take many months to heal completely. If she was not careful he would never have full use of his arm. She pressed her hand directly to the wound, and channelled some of her power to him as he cried out in pain. Her power could only help with the infection a little, it would take more than she had to heal it completely.
“Damnit woman! Fi ya!” he roared, trying to push himself farther away from her.
“Oh, so you do speak? If I don’t clean it out properly, you’ll never use it again. I’m sorry, but it must be done. Please try to keep still.” she whispered, pouring a clear liquid over the wound to help clean it out. “I’m going to have to squeeze out the infection, would you mind if I put you to sleep while I do it?”
He shook his head slowly, his still didn’t trust this woman. She could be a trap, sent here by her father to kill him.
During the next hour he felt he would die. The pain of her touch on his wound was bad enough, but when she started to put pressure, it doubled ten-fold. Several times he nearly passed out from the pain, but he refused to fall into the woman’s trap. Finally she stopped, and began to wrap his shoulder. When she was done, she moved to his stomach where she could tell his ribs were broken. He had a lean body, and she could see every bone and muscle in his stomach, except where there was a slight indent where several of his ribs were missing from their places.
Putting her hand over them, she reached into him with her powers and snapped his ribs back into place, finally knocking him out. Wrapping bandages around his stomach tightly, she took this opportunity to check the rest of his body for wounds. Covering his body were small cuts and bruises, and after cleaning them she continued looking for more. Above his right eye was a deeper cut, cutting through his eyebrow and stopping just above his eye. Cleaning it, she hoped he would be able to focus easier, as she could tell he couldn’t see clearly.
“Milady?”
Noticing the guards behind her, she rose to her feet, her eyes still on the unconscious form of the demon. “Yes? What would you like?”
“We have been asked by the Lord to move the demon outside the castle. They don’t want him inside the castle, should he decide to retaliate once he is healed.”
She allowed them to take the demon, and followed behind them to find out where he would be kept. Reminding them constantly to be careful with him, for some reason she felt the pinch of anxiety deep in her stomach, and she was concerned about leaving him with these men. Eventually they left behind the gates of the castle, and proceeded on to a hut just outside the gates. It was small and dirty, but inside was a roughly-made bed for him to rest on.
“Milady? You are to come back to the castle with us. We cannot leave you here unguarded.”
She was unwilling to leave the wounded demon behind, but she had no choice, and as she turned to leave, she made a silent promise to return to his side as soon as she could.
"Fi ya" means go away in Greek. Please remember I don't speak Greek, so it might be somewhat wrong. Again, thank you for reading!
