What Does That Even Mean
Prologue
You know the phrase “Tell me something I don’t know?” Yay well I recently came to learn that there could be a multiple
volume set of things I don’t know and it still would barely scratch the surface. I’ll tell you right now I don’t know
one damn thing about love, but I work at a place where I am to make people delude themselves into thinking, no,
believing that they love me. See what I mean? It is sad really. Knowing that, but making believe that I don’t. Maybe
that is why he followed me for all those years.

Ari sat at his desk listening to the professor drown on about an equation of some sort. Really it was nothing that he needed for the future. He rested his head upon his closed fist while his glasses slipped down his nose. Art, now that was his true passion, not this nonsensical mathematic stuff.
‘Blah, blah symbols that magically make problems that I could care less about solving,’ Ari snorted at the thought.
“Mr. Seria,” a raised voice called.
‘Damn.’
“If you are not going to pay attention then why are you here?”
‘Um, let me think, probably because the educational system says that I have to be.’
“Oh sorry Professor just got lost in thoughts of mathematical wonder,” Ari said giving the professor a casual smile. The professor sighed, shaking his head before resuming the teaching of probability or something. Ari couldn’t think of anything else that would bring Vegas into the conversation. Or it might have been the fact that that was the city they were in, but how would that be relevant in a math class?
A hand brushes across Ari’s back causing him to jump and slam his left arm down on the desk. This of course made the professor glare daggers at him, but he continued on teaching this time, turning his back to write a problem on the board after a few seconds of glaring.
“Takari,” a voice whispered from behind.
Rolling his eyes Ari turned so that his head was facing the window glancing back at the person behind him. Ari let out a small sigh before putting his right hand in front of his mouth, really the last thing that he needed was the professor getting pissed enough to actually kick him out.
“What,” Ari snapped back.
“Gee chill, I was going to ask if you were coming to art club tonight,” the brunette behind him said with a huff.
“And you couldn’t ask this after class because?” Ari hissed in a slightly annoyed tone.
“I thought of it now, so now is when I asked. Gee don’t be such a douche,” the brunette muttered.
“Your face is a douche,” Ari muttered back childishly.
“What does that even mean?!”
“Mr. Seria, Mr. Parker please collect your things and get out of my classroom!” The professor shouted causing both boys to look up in confusion.
“Didn’t see that one coming.” Ari muttered while rolling his eyes.
“Oh shut up,” the other said while lightly pushing Ari out of the room so that they both could escape the angry professor’s gaze.
“Wow fifteen minutes, I think that is a new record. The fastest time we have ever gotten kicked out of a class.”
“Oh yes Jurin, because that was my goal of the day,” Ari said with a blank expression masking his face, only to give up on it a few seconds later to let out a laugh.
“I don’t know, when you act like that I almost think you planned it out that way, but then I remember that I am the brains of this friendship.”
“Yeah sure you are,” Ari says while pulling open his locker and pushing his entire backpack inside.
“So anyway your coming with me to art club right?” Jurin asks leaning inappropriately close.
“You know that I want to Jurin, but I’m working tonight,” Ari responds after slamming his locker closed so that his bag has no chance of trying to fall out in the process of shutting it. Jurin made an annoyed sound.
“Come on Takari you’re always working.”
“That is an exaggeration, and how many times have I told you to call me Ari,” he nudges Jurin back almost hard enough to knock him over.
“Lost count,” Jurin shrugged, “You’ve missed the last five meetings. I mean can’t you call in sick or something?”
Ari hums as if in thought, “No. My rent is due soon so I need as many hours as I can get. You know I want to be there, but I just don’t have time right now,” Ari said leaning back against his locker with his eyes closed.
“Hey man don’t sweat it, you know that as your friend I have to give you a hard time,” Jurin grinned and started off down the hall towards the art building. “Well guess I’ll be the first one there again.”
“And once again everyone will know that you got tossed out of a class,” Ari chuckled.
“And they will know you did too,” Jurin countered yelling from the end of the hall now.
“Ass,” Ari whispered.
“I heard that!” Jurin screamed out as he turned the corner putting him out of sight letting out loud laughter that had teachers opening their doors to see what was going on.
