Lola and Renee Hatch A Plan
Hello lovelies! I am SO sorry about the complete lack of updates, but my best friend and I had a completely spontaneous ROAD TRIP. It was pretty awesome, and we ended up spending some time in another state with an old friend… I know, how lucky are we, right?
Now, I didn’t have access to a computer for most of that, but I wrote most of the newest chapter of my Untitled story (which I’ve named, BTW) and two more chapters of Possessor. I wrote them in a notebook though, so I’m going to have to type them up. I’ll post them AS SOON as I can, promise! Keep your eye out for them, yea? =)
Anyway, to tide you over, here is a new story. I’ve got another chapter already almost finished, but I wanted to post this ASAP. So, read it, review it, and give me some love! I’ve missed my computer, so I intend to be glued to it for a while. I’ll get those chapters typed up just as fast as I can, okay?
Again, so sorry if you were all like “wtf?!?!?!” when I stopped updating… temporary, believe me!
READ ON.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Long, honey colored hair pulled back into a low ponytail that fell between shoulder blades, impossibly tall, willowy body cased in black jeans, black tee shirt, black jacket. Expressive, long fingered hands, piano player fingers, blunt tipped and short nailed. Heavy lidded coffee colored eyes, a sharp, strong blade of a nose, and a mouth so full, so incredibly sensual it should be illegal.
Jason sighed heavily, gazing at the boy he was ogling longingly. “Too bad he’s an asshole.” he muttered under his breath.
“What?” Renee said from beside him where they sat on one of the courtyard benches, sharing lunch. “Who’s an asshole?” she followed his line of sight and sniffed. “Oh.” she took a bite of the apple they were sharing and handed it over to Jason. “You know, you don’t know him. What if he’s not an asshole?”
Jason sighed. “He acts like an asshole.” he pointed out.
“We talking about Atticus again?” Lyle asked, sitting down beside Renee. “Man, why don’t you just go talk to him?”
“Because Jason thinks he’s an asshole.” Renee offered, and Lyle snorted.
“You don’t even know him, man.” Lyle said.
“That’s what I told him.”
“Okay, everyone shut up.” Jason snapped. Renee gave him a ‘you-are-really-stupid’ look and dug around in her bag for the sandwich she’d packed to share with Lyle. “Maybe I like just staring at him from across the courtyard. Did that occur to either of you.”
Lyle rolled his shoulders in a shrug. “Just saying, man. Maybe if you got some you wouldn’t be so testy all the time.”
Renee snickered, handing over Lyle’s triangle of sandwich. “Second.” she said, and Jason flashed her the middle finger. “Oh, see? Testy.” She and Lyle giggled at each other.
Sighing, Jason took a bite of the apple, watching Atticus and his only friend, a red haired girl named Lola, as they sat on the bench across the courtyard and played Speed with a deck of circular playing cards. He sighed again, finished off the apple, and got up.
“I’m going to go get a pop.” he said. “Either of you want one?”
They both asked for orange, and he headed into the building towards the alcove full of vending machines. He tossed one last glance over his shoulder at the impossibly beautiful boy before shaking his head in disappointment and ducking into the building.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“He was staring again.” Lola informed Atticus with a tiny smirk, slapping a jack of clubs on top of the ten of hearts. Atticus played a queen of diamonds, a jack of spades, and a queen of hearts in rapid succession on top of Lola’s card. “Shit.” she muttered, drawing.
“I didn’t notice.” Atticus told her, and they both knew it was a lie. He drew another three, dropped a nine of clubs, and drew again. “You’re slacking.” he informed her.
“Shut up.” she told him, playing an eight of diamonds. “And you totally noticed. Why don’t you just talk to him already?”
“He thinks I’m an asshole.” Atticus replied, playing a nine of spades and a ten of clubs. “I heard him say it.”
“He just doesn’t know you, sweet heart.” she replied. “I think you two would be cute together.”
He snorted. Lola made an odd little squeaking sound and slapped down one card after another clearing her hand entirely. “Fuck.” he grumbled and glared at her. “Cheater.”
“Oh please.” she reached over and smacked him in the arm. “You always say that.”
“You’re always a cheater.” he replied.
“Talk to him.”
“No.”
“Please?”
“No.”
Lola sighed, leaning back and folding her arms over her chest. “You’re impossible.”
“No, I’m realistic.” he corrected, scooping up the cards and tapping them into a neat stack. He started shuffling. “He stares all the time, Lola. I mean, all the time. But he never talks to me. Do you know why?”
“Because he thinks you’re an asshole.”
“Right.”
“Prove him wrong.” she shrugged, and he snorted. “What?”
“What makes you think he’d give me that chance?”
“What make you think he won’t?” she countered.
He dropped the stack of cards on the bench. “Forget it.” he grumbled, getting up. “I’m going to the library.”
“Atticus-”
“I’ll see you later.” he told her gruffly, turning and stalking away. She glared after him, infuriated with his stubbornness.
She sat there, brooding, until she realized that Jason was no longer sitting with his friends. An idea struck her, and she got up, bouncing on her heels, and hurried over. The black haired girl looked up, startled at Lola’s sudden presence. “Hi.” she said, grinning. “You’re Renee, right?” she looked at the blond boy. “And… Lyle?”
Renee nodded. “You’re Lola.” she said, and Lola nodded, smiling. “What can we do for you?”
Lola sat down where Jason had been previously, turning on the bench to look at the two. “You can help me with a mutual problem.” she told them.
“Being?” Lyle asked.
“Our two very stupid, very gay, very attracted to each other friends.” she said, and Lyle’s mouth popped open.
“Atticus-” Renee started, and Lola nodded. “Well, damn.” she breathed, shaking her head. “Idiots.”
“I know.” Lola agreed. “rumor is your boy thinks my boy is an asshole.”
Renee nodded. “Jason told me he witnessed the break up between Atticus and that guy he was dating at the start of the term.”
“Damian?” she asked, and Lyle confirmed this. “That guy was an asshole.” Lola told them. She paused, frowning. “Atticus won’t approach Jason because of that whole thing, I guess he heard Jason call him an asshole some time ago.”
Renee shrugged. “Well, Jason’s not the smartest little student, now is he?” Lyle snorted laughter and took a bite of his sandwich.
Lola half smiled. “And Atticus is as stubborn as you can get.”
Renee thought for a moment. “I think,” she said slowly. “that we need to orchestrate a nonconsensual get together.”
“Force them to talk?” Lyle asked, and Renee nodded. “Sounds like it could backfire.”
“True.” Renee admitted. “But sometimes you gotta roll the hard six.”
Lola cackled happily. “Nice. Battlestar reference, right?” Renee nodded, pleased that the red haird girl had gotten it.
“What the hell does that mean?” Lyle asked. “You say that all the time.”
“Not a sci-fi nerd?” Lola asked, pointed at the blond boy, and Renee shook her head no, her expression suggesting that this fact made Lyle an idiot. “I’m with you on this one. I think maybe we need to do something drastic.”
“Like what? Lock them in a closet together?” Lyle asked. Both girls looked like they were seriously considering the suggestion, and Lyle scowled. “I was joking.”
“We could put them in the science store room.” Renee suggested. “Last period all the science labs are empty, and I don’t have a final class, so I could keep an eye out.”
“I’ve got last period free too.” Lola told her. “It could work. There’s two doors into the store room, and we could stand guard. Let them out when school’s over.”
“Is an hour enough, though?” Renee pointed out, and Lola sighed.
“You two are insane.” Lyle told them. “Completely nuts, you know that, right? You can’t just lock two people in a room full of dangerous chemicals and expect them to come out a couple. It’s lunacy.”
Lola tapped her bottom lip, thinking. “What about my basement?” she offered. “Only one way in, and it’s mostly empty, just a couch and an old free standing bar. We’re redoing it next week, so-”
“You sound like a serial killer now.” Lyle informed her. “Locking them in a basement, are you fucking joking?”
“It could work.” Renee said. “What about your parents?”
“Gone for the rest of the week. California for my uncle’s wedding.”
Renee was nodding. “This could definitely work. But how-”
“There was no more orange.” Jason said, and all three of them jumped, startled. “I brought you-” he stopped, looking at Lola curiously. “Uh, hi.”
She jumped to her feet. “Hi, Jason.” she greeted, grinning. “Well… bye.” she turned on her heel and hurried away. Jason watched after her, scowling.
“What was that?” he asked his friends. Lyle looked away, eating his sandwich instead of answering, and Renee flashed him an innocent smile.
“Just saying hello.” she said, and Jason arched an eyebrow. He thought about pursuing it, but decided to let it go in the end. He was pretty sure he didn’t really want to know anyway.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Short, chocolate colored hair that stuck up in an effortless tousle, bright, wide eyes the color of jade. Wide, strong shoulders and a narrow waist, muscles toned, flattered by well fit blue jeans and a green tee shirt depicting some band he’d never heard of. A sharp, quick smile, perfect teeth, the kind of face that reminded him of Greek statues.
Atticus scowled, looking away from Jason as he stood, leaning his weight with one hand against the vending machine. He wished the guy wasn’t so presumptuous. It bothered him that Jason had jumped to such a conclusion about him. He wondered why. He also wondered if Jason understood that just assuming Atticus was an asshole actually made him an asshole in turn.
He hurried to the library, where he found a table in the back and opened his history text. He had a test next period, and he wanted to brush up a little. He tried to concentrate, but the whole thing wouldn’t go away. Scowling, he sat back, snapping his book closed and glaring at the table top. What did it matter if he didn’t want to approach Jason? So what if they guy stared all the time? Appreciating someone’s appearance didn’t meant he wouldn’t shoot him down. Atticus was pretty certain that he would, so why bother at all?
Lola came in, walking over and sitting down beside him. “I’m sorry about earlier.” she told him. “I should’ve dropped it.” he studied her, and she seemed genuinely sorry, so he shrugged it off. She smiled. “Want to come over after school today?”
“Sure.” he said with a shrug. “Do you have something in mind?”
“Thought we’d watch a movie.” she told him, and he nodded. “So I’ll see you after your last class, right?”
He thought about it, then said, “I was going to ditch.”
She beamed. “Good, you won’t have to walk.”
“Right.”
“I’ll meet you by my car, okay?” he nodded, and she got up and left. Sighing, he tried to go back to his history text.
Lola in turn went and waited by the main doors that led from the courtyard into the building. The bell ran eventually, and she watched the crowd of students until she spotted Renee. Lola appreciated good timing, and just as she headed over, the black haired girl waved at her two male friends and turned in the opposite direction. Score. Lola hurried up behind her, slipping her arm around Renee’s, who jumped.
“You’re sneaky.” Renee told her.
“Why, thank you.” Lola said, acting flattered, and Renee laughed. “Can you get Jason to my house today?”
Renee thought this over. “He’s supposed to come over anyway. I can make up something about why we’re going to your house.”
“Oh, don’t tell him it’s mine.” she said. “He’ll catch on.”
Renee thought this over. “You might be right. I’ll figure it out, don’t worry.”
Lola nodded. “I’ve got a great idea.” she beamed. “Atticus has a tendency to do a lot of the handiwork around my house, since my father’s a complete numbskull about that sort of thing and knows it. He fixes stuff all the time, and he knows we’ve been having an issue with our water heater lately. Which is in the basement.”
Renee smiled. “I see where this is going.”
Lola nodded. “He’s ditching final period, so I’ll send him down there like ten minutes before you come over. Then you can tell Jason to go downstairs, make up something like you have to use the bathroom and you’ll meet him down there.”
“And as soon as he goes down, we’ll slam the door and lock it.” Renee finished, and Lola grinned. “Sounds easy.”
“It will be.” Lola assured her. “Atticus jumps when I ask him to do things like that for me. Makes him feel manly, I guess.” they both snickered at this. “But I’m worried about Lyle.”
“Don’t be.” Renee assured her. “He knows I have good intentions… and that I’ll break his arm if he fucks up my plans.”
Lola beamed. “I like you.” she told Renee. “We think alike.”
Renee returned the smile. “You know, I always thought you kind of a bitch.” she admitted.
“Well, I am.” Lola replied, and Renee laughed again. “But I think we’re both the same kind of bitch.”
Renee stopped, glancing at the classroom door they were standing in front of. “What do you have this period?”
“Lit.” Lola told her. “I hate it.”
Renee smiled. “Want to ditch?” she asked.
Lola patted her arm. “Read my mind.” she said, and the two girls hurried towards the side exit in the next wing.

So, that’s the beginning… sneaky little bitches, aren’t they? The whole basic idea is actually based on something me and that best friend of mine did to two of our friends in high school... a little overworked in this, but the point is there... as in yea, we really did lock two of our friends in a basement in the hopes that they'd realize they liked each other. Although it was a boy and a girl... and guess what? They got MARRIED last summer. How awesome are we?
