The unknown

Chapter 1

The sun shone with a fading brightness, as it set, shining its last evening light upon the young couple that walked hand in hand down the street. The young couple was Sylvia, and her boyfriend Lucian or Luc for short. Sylvia was an 18 year old Scorpio, with flowing black hair that reached halfway down her back and icy blue eyes that shone when the light touched them. Lucian was a year older then Sylvia at the age of 19, he was an Aquarius. He had spiked dark brown hair that was tipped with red and dark soulful black eyes that screamed mystery. The two were just heading to the cinemas and the sun was just starting to set. The two had to walk through the forest to get into the city where the cinema was. The further the two walked the darker it got.

“I really don’t like this Luc” whispered Sylvia to the still form behind her.

Behind her Lucian chuckled quietly. ~Silly little mortal, still afraid of the dark when you should be afraid of the one you expect to protect from your imaginary monsters~. He thought darkly.

Suddenly as the full moon rose, Lucian felt the change Mother Earth had given him. Sylvia was ignorant to the change that was happening to her boyfriend of one month. She didn’t see that Lucian nose was becoming larger and larger forming a similar form of a snout from a wolf. She didn’t see that fur started sprouting out all over Lucian, and also she didn’t see as Lucian’s perfect, white gleaming teeth became razor sharp fangs and lastly she didn’t see as Lucian fell to the floor. When the change was complete, he could see the young prey as clear as day, while she had no clue she had a carnivorous beast in place of a boyfriend as she kept rambling on how she didn’t like the taut atmosphere that surrounded them, the complete silence that had stalked upon them, or even the cold feeling of fear that had crept into her.

She felt rather then heard the growling beast behind her.
“L..L..Lucian” she sputtered into the night, having turned around to where both Lucian was last known to be and to where the beast now stood.

And a beast it was, it was twice the size of a wolf, with fangs that gleamed white in the night, its fur was a brownish black with a red tinged, its eyes where black that held no warmth or comfort but a deep hunger for blood and death.

With a shrill scream Sylvia ran, she ran as fast as she could with tears streaming down her face, causing her to trip on a uplifted root and fall disgracefully down to the forest floor.

While Sylvia had ran the beast trotted behind her enjoying a good hunt and when she fell the beast leaped upon her tearing into her delicate white flesh.

Sylvia screamed as she felt the beast sink his large fangs into her and before she had pass out from the pain and blood loss from the steady seeping bite. She thought ~I’m not ready to die.~

The beast stared down at the unconscious girl that lay under him. It noticed that the girl’s scent was changing from that of prey to that of an unmated female pack member. Just as the wolf was about to drag the newly made werewolf back to its den so it’s human half could explain that she was now one of the few gifted. The beast felt a shot of shearing pain in its back leg, as it turned to tend to the wound it heard.
“get away wolf shoo, you shan’t be having human for lunch, now get” the words were yelled by the local hunter who had heard the girls scream and came to see what was happening.

The beast gave one last fleeting glance to the girl before running of into the forest and away from the hunters gun all the while thinking ~I shall find you no matter where you go as now you are forever linked to the moon and once I have you back you will learn the honour which mother earth has given you so farewell for now my dear.~

Once the wolf had left the hunter silently went to the fallen girl.
“Man, this is the 5th wolf attack this week” he exclaimed “My god! She is still alive, I better call an ambulance”.

The ambulance soon arrived with it loud sirens and flashing bright lights. The medical staff quickly got to work in keeping the young girl alive. Though her pulse was weak and her breathing shallow due to the blood lost and the shock of being attacked by a large animal.

“Lucky isn’t she” stated a male in his early thirties wearing a medical uniform.
“Yeah Bill she is the 5th attack this week and is the only one that was alive when we got there. Think she’ll make it???” asked another guy in his late thirties
“Don’t know Jack we can only do what we can to stabilise her” Bill answered.
