A Halloween Story

"Amelia!" An old crone called out from the porch of an old Victorian-styled home. She looked around for a red haired girl to come running up to the house, but for some strange reason it was taking longer than usual. Grand Marie, as the old woman was called, knew that her grand daughter was up to no good and on a day like that she wanted the young girl close at hand.

"Amelia Marie Ashwood! You better be within my range of view in the next minute or so help me I'll make sure you never leave the house again!"

Just then the red-haired teen came speeding from the trees behind the tall green house. "I'm here Grand Mariiiiie!" she shouted as ran up to her grand mother, "Don't lock me away mean old lady!" she teased jokingly

"Where were you young lady?" The old woman glared at Amelia. Seeing the girl come bounding out of the trees was a bad sign.

In back of the home there was a cluster of trees, there Grand Marie had a large shed that she used for drying plants and herbs for the concoctions that she sold to the people of their town. To the people Grand Marie was referred to as 'Gypsie Marie'. Her granddaughter knew of the business she had selling soaps, medicinal remedies and 'potions'. But the old woman didn't want the sixteen year old girl to become involved in such things. She wanted the girl to have a normal life.

"Oh Grand Marie I was just wandering around! The girls and I wanted to have a picnic this afternoon so I was looking for a perfect spot to set it up." Amelia told the truth, but not the whole truth

"Come inside, Amelia." The old crone led the way into the kitchen past the lean-to where large pots were boiling on an old cast iron stove. That shed was used for the botanical and magical things that Gypsie Marie made.

Old as she may have been, she was not one to be easily fooled. When Amelia mentioned 'the girls' Grand Marie knew they would be up to no good. The 'girls', to which the red-head had mentioned, referred to Lilian Westbrooke and Evelyn Skies. Though all three teenaged girls were well-mannered, well-behaved, smart and respectful they each descended from a gypsy family line.

Grand Marie wanted the best for each of the girls. She wanted them to graduate and leave the town for big universities far away to live and work in cities, but something about the town, something in their blood pulled them towards the ways of the gypsies.

"Grand Marie, don't be mad at me. I promise there is no spell-casting, demon summoning, or spirit conjuring going on! It's All-Hallows-Eve and we just want to enjoy the weather." Amelia pouted her pretty full pink lips. The crone looked at her granddaughter and thought to herself. The three girls were beautiful, the most beautiful of all the girls in town and the old woman knew that every one of the descendants had a tragedy befall them at least once in their lives. Especially in this town.

Amelia with her red wavy hair that hung about her waist, her light skin, large brown eyes and gorgeous freckled doe-face sat there with an air of mischief surrounding her. She was healthy and fit with a smallish yet perky set of breasts, a nice curved waist and large hips.
Grand Marie went to the oven and pulled out a batch of freshly made biscuits and set them in front of the teenager that sat there. "I miss your mother."

Amelia had to admit that she was taken by surprise at the mention of her mother. It had been six years since the incident that had taken her mother from and they never spoke of it aside from the anniversary of the fateful day. "I miss her too, Grand Marie."

"I do not want to lose you Amelia. I am the one that is old and I would hate to have to watch another young soul disappear."

Amelia hugged her grandmother around the waist tightly, "Grand Marie, stop being so macabre! You'll never lose me!" The truth was that Amelia didn't want to be without her grandmother

A knock at the door sounded and Grand Marie reluctantly went to answer. The red-head sat there and contemplated about the thing that the three of them had planned for that night. It was true that they weren't going to cast, summon or conjure...per say, but what they were going to do was put themselves in a whole heap of danger. And the last thing that Amelia wanted was her grandma finding out.

"Ameeeeeeelia!" Two girls called out in sing-song voices as they followed Grand Marie into the kitchen.

The first to sit at the table with Amelia was Evelyn. Her golden blonde hair was cut into a bob that complimented her elfish heart shaped face. Her green hazel eyes stood out against her peachy colored skin and full soft pink lips. She shared the same exact body shape as her pepper-haired friend so they shared clothing often enough. “Good morrow to the Ashwood ladies!” She greeted as she flashed a smile

Lilian was the second to take a seat. Her long hip-length curly brown hair was worn in two braids, her one honey and one blue colored eyes standing out. Her full lips were pulled into a smile, "How's it going, hot stuff?" She was the only one of the three to have larger sized breasts with the same large hips and small waist that the other two had as well, making Lilian the most curvatious. She didn’t find this fair on account that she could only share pants with Evelyn and Amelia but not cute tops.

“Little Ladies, I would like to say something to the three of you.” Grand Marie announced as she placed a jar of caramel on the table for the girls to spread on their biscuits, “I know that you are all up to some sort tomfoolery, but I won’t have it. Tonight is All-Hallows-Eve not to mention it is the first night of the fool moon. This is a time known as Witch Week, where magic is at its highest peak. Any sort of sorcery can trigger a large wave powerful happening. I beg you, if you are planning something, anything, please be wise to leave well alone.”

The three girls exchanged a quick look before speaking up, “Grand Marie, we honestly were planning a picnic out in the woods.” Lilian stated

“We understand your worry Grand Marie, we will be on our best behavior. Promise.” Evelyn chimed in

Amelia stood from the table and embraced her grandmother, “Grand Marie, we are going to be around for a very long time.” And with that the ginger kissed the crone on the forehead.
The silver-haired woman knew there was nothing else she could say to persuade the young girls to stay home, much less prevent them from wrecking havoc. She took in the beauty of their faces and tried her best to remember everything about them, in the case that she would not see them again. “What will you girls be preparing for your festive feast?”

Amelia, Evelyn and Lilian were gathering the supplies they needed for the picnic they were having that night. They had a significant about of red candles stored in a wicker basket along with a few apples and a jar of caramel. Another basket they set aside carried a chicken that Grand Marie had roasted for them with freshly baked biscuits and a green bean casserole. The last thing that the girls readied was a large leather pouch into which they securely placed a glass flask containing a honey colored liquid.

“Are you sure you are ready?” Lilian asked as she picked up they heavy folded blanket, “We don’t have to do this you know.”

“Are you guys having second thoughts?” Evelyn chimed in. The three of them wore cloaks made from gold velvet.

Amelia looked at her two friends, she knew that deep inside they were as afraid as she was, but this was something that they had agreed to. They had been friends since the age of five and nothing was going to change that. “I am ready, no second thoughts, I am all in.” The butterflies in her stomach were fluttering to no end

“So be it.” Evelyn and Lilian said in unison

The three beautiful girls picked up their things and marched downstairs with their heads held high. They had a task for the full moon on the night of All-Hallows-Eve, to lure a protector of the night and offer to him a virgin sacrifice. Walking through the kitchen they excited from the back door and walked straight into the woods, their gold cloaks flowing about their ankles. And as they reached their designated spot Amelia pulled off her cloak to reveal her naked, milky skinned body to the chilly night.

“Oh mother Moon, Mistress of Darkness and Night, I have come to as for protection. And in return, I offer to you purity and new life.”
