Eyes

ALT Title: Takeshi Background

“Shit Kid, run!”

Takeshi’s head flew up at the words, looking at his elder partner before he felt a hard hit against his chest, sending his body flying backwards. “Fuck!” He cried out, pushing himself up again just to be knocked right down, long, sharp claws raking across his face and over his eyes, sending shocks of pain through his entire body, leaving him prone and helpless on the ground.

“I’m sorry Takeshi.” A man murmured softly, patting the teens shoulder soothingly. It was a move the man normally wouldn’t make, he didn’t touch anyone, he didn’t comfort anyone… it had to be something really, really bad for him to act like this.

Takeshi shifted a bit, his body jumping from the sudden contact. He wasn’t used to not being able to see, his body wasn’t acclimated to the, supposedly temporary, loss of sight. “What’s wrong?” The teen asked, shifting again and raising his hand to the bandages covering his eyes, wanting to take them off so that he could see the other man. “What are you sorry for?” He asked, wincing a bit as he pulled his hand away. He had received a rather bad injury to his eyes on one of his first hunts, one that had taken the medics almost a month to fix. At least that was what he thought.

“Your eyes, Takeshi.” The man murmured, carefully taking the bandages off the others face. “I’m sorry, they’re ruined.” He said, a soft sigh coming from his throat. He shifted a bit, kneeling in front of the young man. He was far too young to be damaged like this already. “You’re going to have to resign as a hunter.”

“Resign?” Takeshi asked, his breath catching in his throat. “No… I can’t resign…” He suddenly said, pushing the man back. “This is what I want to do! I can’t just give up on it now!” He was getting more and more agitated, his body trembling as he stood up, pacing in the seemingly black room. Even if he knew it was his eyes, it still really, really bothered him.

“I’m sorry son… this is the only decision you have.”

Like hell it was.

Takeshi swallowed as he looked at himself in the mirror, his eyes wide. It had taken him two years to find someone, two whole years of painful blindness before he had convinced a scientist that he could take it… that he could take the surgery that would restore his sight. He raised his hands, touching right below his eyes, just pressing against the sensitive skin.

“Take, what are you…” Ben looked at him, swallowing a bit. He had been there with him through everything, even if he wasn’t an official member of the hunter association, he always seemed to be doing something for them and Taking care of Takeshi was just another one of those things.

Takeshi looked back at him, wincing slightly when the brand new, mechanical eyes whirred, taking in all the dimensions of the vampire. His head bowed a bit, his body shaking as he tried to get used to the pain. His real eyes had been ruined, totally destroyed so the scientist had surgically implanted mechanical eyes, much like computers, in the sightless shell where his eyes had been. They could take in a person’s height, weight, and species… along with a plethora of other data and… it hurt like hell every time they started working.

“Shit, you’re bleeding again.” Ben muttered, grabbing a cloth and sitting beside him, carefully dabbing at the blood that fell like tears from Takeshi’s eyes. “Can’t he turn them off until you’re healed at least?” He asked as he pressed the cloth under the other mans eyes, trying to stop the blood flow.

Takeshi just sighed a bit, letting the vampire take care of his bleeding eyes. “No… he said it will just cause damage to the eyes.” He murmured, closing his eyes with a sigh. “I’ll get used to it… I’ll have to.” He said, leaning back a bit. “Come on, Ben, we have a mission.” He said, pushing himself up and grabbing his weapon laden coat. He had to get back to his life.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The ghost boss, the shadow of the organization. He was the man that only the very lucky hunters who went on a mission with him even got to meet. He was an enigma, some hunters believed him to be a figment of the imagination, a legend told only to scare and intimate the young recruits. No one could be that good; no one could take down a group of feral creatures without receiving any type of wounds. No one was that talented… but they were all wrong. The ghost boss, the enigma, the legend… he was absolutely real.
His name was Takeshi.
