Shadows creep all around the walls
Alone at night I feel so small
Darkness seeps in as I lay in bed
Forced to reflect on words past said

Nothing is louder than the silence
Always after sounds of violence
Deep breaths taken to stop the shaking
Grips so tight afraid of breaking

Start slipping away into my mind
Leaving thoughts of past far behind
Because tears dampen the pillow case
No where to go your arms not safe
They will not protect me from the pain
They will not hold me keep me sane

Smiles are sad and laughter is fake
But tears are real make no mistake
Brace myself and tightly shut my eyes
While all my prayers sent to the skies
