Black Sheep
“Ha Ha! You deserved it you brat!” It was the same thing every day as snot ran out the nose of a small five year old boy while the bigger much fatter kid in his class ran away, back to his little group of giggling, pointing children. Adults turned their noses up and away as if it never happened at all. Rubbing his nose into his over sized blue hooded sweatshirt, he stood up eyes puffing red with tears ready to fall, and as they started he turned tail running away in the direction he knew his mother would be coming from to get him that day from day care. Not caring who was in the way the small messy blonde haired blue eyes child sprinted across the street, hearing a horn and squealing tires he stopped in time to see a huge semi come at him trying to stop.
It had all started when his older sister called rape against the apartment manager’s son, she was only eleven and he was fourteen and just came into his puberty full force. Everyone respected and obeyed that family seeing how many of the people in that building worked under that same family, so it was in one’s best interest to not get on the bad side of them. At some point his son took a great interest in the Warren’s dirty blonde hair and green eyed daughter Teresa. She was a sort of tomboy one would say, always hanging with the guys and one to be able to handle herself in a fight. A few months in things got weird, Teresa started showing up with bruises on her upper arms and Toni, the manager’s son had scratches on his face, not too many people thought anything of this just waving it off as a wrestling accident. As time went on it got worse and then it happened, Teresa had been missing for a few hours so a lot of the neighbors came out to help the Warrens look for their daughter, she was found in the utility room torn up and with blood between her legs past out.
When she woke up Teresa pointed to Toni as the one who did it and he denied it completely, saying he never left his room until he found out she had been missing. It was a bold face lie; the evil tint could be seen in his eyes as he looked over Teresa that day trying to hide his sheer happiness for what he did to her, yet he tried to innocently play it off by scratching his red hair and shrug at the questions. Of course his family stood behind him, and them being who they was the tenants began to follow suit. Talk about a group riot…One by one they began ignoring and avoiding the Warrens, every one of them even little J.D was being tormented through the day that they had any contact with them in general. The stress levels went through the roof quickly as nerves frayed beyond belief, all in waiting for the day that the children’s father gets fired and they be forced out onto the street.
“JAYDEN!” The cry of his mother and sister rang through as the semi crashed into little J.D, sending his tiny battered body under the truck, blood began spilling everywhere. The truck stopped with him under it still, as anyone who was nearby came running to see what happened. Mother dove under the truck and pulled out her son, her daughter a shaking tearing mess turned to the tenants with hate filled eyes. “LOOK AT WHAT YOU DID! LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENED BECAUSE YOU SHIT HEADS GANGED UP ON A FIVE YEAR OLD! DO YOU FEEL PROUD OF YOURSELVES? THIS IS YOUR ENTIRE FAULT!” They turned their guilt filled eyes away as sirens got closer to the scene. Their mother lay collapsed on the ground rocking J.D whispering to his unresponsive body. Then apartment manager’s wife and son came out to see what was going on and were surprised to see no one gathered around her. Angrily she began snapping at the people who still did not answer her or even look up, their eyes plastered to the mother and child in the street, her face got as red as her hair.
“Hey Teresa.” His sneered voice caught her attention as she turned her glazed eyes onto the start of all this getting up she stumbled over to the two staring into Toni’s eyes emotionlessly. “This is your entire fault, Toni.” Laughing he backed away arms waving inn defense, “I didn’t do anything wrong.” His mother was about to snap at her when the sirens rounded the corner showing three police cars and an ambulance. Teresa’s eyes grew dark as she grabbed Toni’s pale wrist and flung him in front of the police car, both her and his mother watched as he was struck and flung up and over the car landing on the ground with a sickening thud. Screaming for her son she grabbed a hold of Teresa and began shaking her asking her why she did that while screaming in her face. Pushing the red head off her, she began walking to her mother and brother glancing back and in a soft tone said, “An eye for an eye, a life for a life. But your debt will live with you forever.”
Both were pronounced dead
