this is the prologue to my story....i was Calling it Marcus and Everette but thats too much of a simplistic name for the story. rating and warnings for later chapters, this is kinda the boring pre story thats necessary for everyone to understand what happens next. no this is NOT a bad rip off on Harry Potter, i've had this idea since before the books came out. (besides if anything its a closer rip off on Clow Reed from Card Captor Sakura...not that i intended that....i just realized that after it was too late XD)

Grendelle University was the highest place of magic academia in all of Engel. It was where all the great sorcerers and magicians were trained and were some of them now taught. The degrees one could obtain after being a student of the great school were many. There was Alchemy, Spell work, Herbalism and Summoning and many others as well.

The staff was comprised of only the best. The high wizard on council always offered the highest-ranking students at their graduation a spot in the staff, many of them took it. Working at the school was not only an honor and privilege but also brought good money and was steady and reliable, unlike many of the professions they could also be going in to.

One such student was the shining star of the school. Graduating at age 20 when most graduated at 23, he was also the valedictorian and had the highest test scores in summoning that anyone had ever seen. Marcus Fairewind could have been anything he wanted. Even as a summoner for the masses, the most unstable job of them all, he could have been rich and famous. So everyone was surprised when he accepted the job offered to him by the high wizard Auriel.

Marcus was not concerned with riches and fame, he had enough money from his inheritance to live off of anyway, Marcus loved the academic life. Teaching had been his plan all along and he was more than happy that it was at Grendelle where the libraries were full of wonderful old tomes and smelled perfectly of old books and knowledge. Also he had been eyeing an old unused house just outside of campus. The building was beautiful and just the right size for a summoner who owned what some would call too many books and had a daemon summon who lived with him as a servant and companion.

So Marcus accepted the job and bought the house, which didn’t need much other than a good dusting and a fresh coat of paint to make it beautiful again. He enjoyed his life very much, spending time teaching, researching, and with his two close friends from his student days, Alexander and Igraine. Over the years Marcus acquired many more books and wrote a few himself, he also gained another permanent daemon, since he had let his first companion go back to the daemon realm for a small short of time and he came back saying that his lover had been in tears at him leaving. Marcus might not have looked and acted soft and affectionate but he did have that side to him, buried under the stoicism, he felt bad taking lovers away from each other so he decided that no harm could come from a second summon, and let the two be together.

It was one day when Marcus was in his study, trying desperately to find a book on the behavior of Japanese daemons in the utter mess that he called his desk that he realized that maybe he needed some help with things. He plopped himself down in his chair and sighed, looking around the room at the complete mess he always made of things.

The next morning Marcus went to the high wizard Aureil and requested an apprentice.
