Souled Out

“Start of first term, hope I find a partner” the black spiked haired boy said to himself after walking up the long set of stairs leading to the Shinigani school. Including other teens, it was Karnah’s first day at the school, now he was 16; he is licensed to either become a Meister or a Weapon.


Everyone makes their way into the main hall, some of them already becoming friends, but Karnah remains by himself with his headphones on. A few minutes later, a blue zombie wearing a white beanie came from the doors at the front of the hall, “Hello everyone, and welcome to the 1,967,650,920th year of this school...” everyone looks over at the dead-ish man, Karnah turns his head to face the front and hangs his headphones around his neck. “... Now let me introduce you to your new headmaster, Mr Shinigami” A black figure wearing a white skull mask hovered over to the front joined by a guy with red hair in a suit.


The creature faced the students, the room went cold. “Hello everybody, thank you for the introduction Sid-Kun” the pupils all had a confused expression upon there face’s after hearing how comical its voice was since its so evil looking, but Karnah just smiled, laughing in his head. “Any who, let me explain the school rules, number 1...” Karnah, now starting to lose interest, took a quick look around the hall to see if he could team up with anyone.


Deciding to give up his little search, his eye finally catches someone on the left leaning up against the wall, he had long black hair and he wore a black trench coat, but he seemed too old to be a student. “... And last of all number 13, have fun killing. Now, would everyone like to make partners with a Meister or a Weapon who have the same wavelength as yourself, because if you don’t, buy the end of the day, you will get kicked out of this year and have to apply next year...”, Karnah looked around to see everyone pairing up. He started to panic when the last few people teamed up, the Shinigami made its way over to the guy leaning on the wall.


“Hello Addy-Kun, could this be 5 years in a row without a partner now?” the guy lets out a sigh then looks at the Shinigami with disappointment on his face “Guess so”, both him and the Shinigami turned there heads and looked down when they heard little footsteps making there way over to them. “Erm... Mr Shinigami, theirs no one else I can partner up with, I need a partner who’s a Weapon”, the Shinigami took a closer look at him, making Karnah jump slightly “Interesting...” It quickly shot back into Addy’s face “... He has the same wavelength as you, maybe you should partner up” Karnah and Addy looked at each other, “Ok then, lets see if you can handle me” in a moment, he transformed into a think, black sword that still towered over Karnah “Now, grab my handle” Karnah blushed slightly to what he said, but Addy was starting to fall towards him “You gonna grab me before I drop?” Karnah finally kicked into action, he let the sword fall into his hands before raising it into the air and spun it around like it had now weight to it.


“Not bad, tell me your name kid” Addy transformed back and continued to lean on the wall “It’s Karnah” he said with a nervous grin “My name, is Addy. I’m pleased to be your partner”. Karnah stood there in shock looking at him “Wha... What? How we? Huh? I thought you were a teacher or something?” Addy sigh looking away from Karnah, Shinigami bent down to Karnah’s level “It’s ok, this is the fifth time he’s enrolled here, and your his first partner” Karnah could somehow tell that the Shinigami was smiling, but Addy was just getting annoyed by it, Karnah just smiled and jumped over to Addy giving him a bear hug “Thank you so much. If it wasn’t for you I would have been kicked out...” Karnah carried on rambling, something like this would usually make Addy uneasy, but for some reason, he didn’t mind as much with Karnah, he was different.
