It started with Dungeons and Dragons

She couldn't believe she'd been talked into this.... it was all she could think as she sat there, listening to the prattling on of Ross, her hands busy knitting a scarf. It was all she could do to keep still. Her friend Amanda, in order to find a common ground with her husband, not only allowed these 'DnD' nights, but participated... and so not to be alone, BEGGED her to participate too! How could she say no to one of her best friends? Easily... but she didn't. Her and Amanda didn't hang out nearly enough, so she agreed... and ever since regretted it every other Sunday, when they would get together and waste hours of their lives playing Dungeons and Dragons.
“Let's take a quick break before you guys continue on.” Ross, the 'game master', said. Honestly, she knew he was just itching for a smoke, and so did Amanda, but they were glad to get up and stretch a bit.
“Nice playing.” It was a compliment, or supposed to be, from Mike, Ross' younger brother. In all honestly, they weren't the most attractive bunch... at least not to her, but poor Mike, was the least attractive of them all. Which was sad, because he was such a nice guy. Who had a huge thing for her.
Oh, she knew it. He didn't make it a secret. He'd sent her a drunken e-mail, professing feelings for her long ago, and from how he behaved, those feelings had yet to change. It was flattering, but made things a bit awkward... at least for her. She tried her best to keep it neutral though... friendly.
“Thanks.” She'd state with a kind smile before following Amanda, Ross, Sean, and John out of the room. John was a character. Snide and rude, but his sarcasm was high enjoyed by Melanie. She loved a good laugh, and someone who could dish it out, and take it. Again, not one of the most attractive men in the world, but he had a head of curly hair that she loved, and a cute boyish face that didn't seem to match his pessimistic personality.
They filed out of the room, Amanda moving to the kitchen to check on the stew she made for them every other Saturday, and the guys moving toward the deck, where the smokers would smoke, and they all would talk.
“Hey Amanda... I have that recipe for those pumpkin muffins you wanted, do you want me to go get it?” She wanted to do something other then go out on the deck with the guys... And Amanda seemed rather tired... she didn't want to over exert her pregnant friend.
“Yeah, maybe we can make them real quick before Ross is done smoking. She'd state quietly... Amanda always was really quiet. And so, grabbing her jacket, Melanie raced out the door and down the two flights of stairs before slowing to a walk to her car.... God, was it cold out! That wind was going to be the end of her! She knew she should have worn something thicker.
Upon reaching her small red vehicle, she would reach inside, grab the small card before locking the car and shutting the door.
“Hey Mel, can we talk?”
She whipped around pretty quick, due to the shock of hearing her name, only to see none other then Mike standing there, without a coat on... and watching her with a rather serious look in his eyes that... well, made a knot grow in her stomach.
“Uh... sure. What do you want to talk about?”
He seemed to contemplate his next words carefully.... Causing her to try and calm her own nerves a bit as she pulled her jacket a little tighter. Of course, what she didn't expect was him to stride up to her, and without anything even said, he'd pulled her to him and placed lips on hers rather quickly.
Though she'd never really been attracted to him, she had thought of what it would be like to kiss him... and this was far from what she thought it would be... she expected sloppy, untrained lips to meet hers... And what she was met with was warm, gentle, if not hesitant, motions. None the less, brown hues widened as he kissed her. She felt his hand move around her, pulling her even closer to his less than in shape form, his free hand catiously moving to brush some hair from her face... it was... sweet, and gentle... and made the knots in her stomach vanish for a short moment as eyes closed briefly....
And then the reality of it hit her, and she was pulling away. Not nearly the jerking motion she meant it to be, but enough to put space between them.
“M-Mike... what are you....” The stutter came from cold, and shock, those eyes wide once more as she just... looked at him. What had he done?!
“I'm tired of being afraid of showing you Melanie!” He'd state, and she could hear, and see his agitation as he moved a bit closer to her... “You can't tell me you didn't feel anything just now, can you?” It almost seemed like a desperate plea... and it would have been, if she hadn't. But all she could do was stare at him wide eyed for a long moment before glancing away... Hurting people and making decisions were not her strong points... And this consisted of both actions. Her brow furrowed... What could she honestly say?
“Mike... I...” It was all that came out before he was on her again, though this time, not quite as gently. Indeed, she felt herself be pushed up against her car as his lips took hers again with a new emotion behind the action... passion, and lust. It caused a gasp, and this time around, it was much harder for her to stay shocked... and also harder for her to stay aware of herself... Kissing was her weakness if done right... and he was doing it just right.
She felt his hands move over her, a bit clumsily as they rubbed up her arms, over her neck, and for a moment she was sure she felt a hand move over her chest, which elicited a quiet, unwanted moan from the back of her throat.... She couldn't deny it... this was just plain hot.
And just as quick as it began, it ended... leaving her feel cold, and dazed as he pulled from her and took a step back, both breathing rather deeply as they stared at one another for a long moment... But even after that, her gaze fell and brows furrowed... Not in rejection, but confusion.
It was at then he turned and stalked away from her, and her car, leaving nothing behind but a dazed Melanie... what was she going to do now?
