Negasis- Chapter 9
Everyone was running around the castle in a mad rush. It was a big day at the castle for everyone. Only a few weeks earlier Rini had announced that she was bringing Raylin into the family a bit more permanently. Bacardie had been working non stop since sunrise getting the castle decorated, food cooked, and the garden set up for all the people that would be arriving soon.
Up in the highest tower Aura and Nate were running from room to room trying to make sure the wedding party was dressed and cleaned up. Nate kept most of his attention on Rini, who kept fidgeting with her hair. Aura was trying to help Raylin get ready but he kept kicking her out of his bedroom. Random and her family had arrived the night before and were getting ready. Rini had asked Torrent to be ring barer and best man, and for Kuraraka to be a sort of flower girl slash bride’s maid. Nate had demanded that he was the one to marry Rini and Raylin.
Rini: How long till we have to head down there?
Nate: You’ve still got a few hours; about 2 ½.
Nate had been pacing Rini’s room. When he turned to start another lap of her bedroom he stopped and looked at Rini. She was standing by her balcony door looking down at her garden. She watched all the people running around getting things ready. She turned after a second of feeling eyes on her. Nate walked up to her and pushed an out of place curl from her face and smiled.
Nate: It’s almost time to see if we can squeeze you into that dress.
Rini: Bacardie and Aura worked hard on it. They said it should fit perfectly.
Nate poked Rini in the tummy and laughed.
Nate: Yes well someone here has been getting her share of sweets the last few weeks.
Rini just glared at him. He stood there with that perfectly innocent smile on his face. She sighed and sat down on the side of her bed.
Rini: Mind as well get it out and see if we can get it on me.
Nate walked over to the mannequin in the corner and pulled the cover sheet off the dress. Neither he nor Rini had seen the dress ever. When they got their first look at it, both of their jaws dropped. Rini slowly stood and walked over to it. It was the whitest thing she had ever seen. The all lace corset top was beaded and embroidered with roses and vines. Long sleeves that sat off the shoulder were done the same way, with slits that were buttoned every so many inches to show a little skin. The skirt was huge. It had to be at least 6 layers thick with tulle and laces and silks. All the small perfectly placed beads sparkled in the sunlight that came through the balcony door.
Nate carefully slipped the dress off its stand and held it out to Rini. She ran her fingers over the bead work. She was speechless at the flawlessness of the dress. They both walked over to Rini’s bed and laid the dress down back up. Nate carefully unlaced the back of the dress. Rini took it and wiggled it up from foot to shoulders, almost getting it stuck on her hips. Nate had to help her tug it over them making another candy and cookies crack at her. Once they got it up and on her the hard part came, trying to actually lace the corset back up without suffocating Rini in the process. It took a few tries and Nate telling Rini to breathe out and stand up as straight at she could. But once it was on Nate was in awe at it on her.
Rini: I don’t think I can sit down.
Nate: Well, you only have to wear it for today. And that’s what you get for having so much dessert.
There was a knock at Rini’s door that made them both turn and look. Nate walked over and only opened the door enough to stick his head out. Rini heard some chatting and laughing and then Nate pulled his head in again.
Nate: That was Bacardie. Everyone that can come is here. She’s already got everyone in the garden and waiting. Such an efficient person, isn’t she?
Rini: Did she already tell Raylin and the others?
Nate: Yup, Raylin is on his way down now, followed by the twins. We can head down in about 15mins. But in your case, we’ll start in about 5 since you won’t be going very fast in that dress.
There must have been a look on Rini’s face. Nate walked over and took her hand. He could feel a slight shaking in it, and told her everything would be ok and nothing would go wrong. Rini smiled and went for her shoes. She lost them two times in the mass of skirt layers but finally slid them onto her feet. She did a quick spin for Nate and smiled.
Rini: How do I look?
Nate: As perfect as always. Ready to go?
Rini nodded and they were off. It took her a few extra minuets to get down the stairs of the tower because she lost a shoe. But once she was on level ground she made up the time. Nate walked her to where she had to wait, gave her a kiss on the cheek and went to where he had to stand at the head of the aisle. Torrent and Kuraraka came up behind Rini and scared her on accident. Torrent looked perfectly handsome in his formal clothes. Kuraraka didn’t look too keen about being a dress.
When the time came they took lead out the door. Rini peaked out the crack in the door watching them. Once they made it to the front, they turned and looked back at the door. The two door men looked to Rini who took a deep breath. She gave them a quick glace to let them know they could open the doors. As soon as the men flung the doors open she almost wished they hadn’t. She stood there for a second looking at everyone watching her. That wasn’t what stopped her. It was the way Raylin was looking at her. It was a look she had never seen on his face. It was perfect peace. One of the door men gave her a small shove which got Rini walking. She noticed that with her attention on Raylin it was easier to walk by all the staring eyes.
The walk up the flower petal aisle seemed to go on for forever. Rini noticed that she had time to look out over the crowds, time to look up at the sky and see the birds fly over. She could even feel her own heart beat in the time it took her to make her way up to Raylin. When she got there Nate smiled at her, and Raylin leaned over to whisper how perfect she looked before Nate started talking. Before she knew it she was being asked a question and she snapped back to where she was.
Nate: Rini, do you swear to be with Raylin no matter what happen to either of you, for as long as you both live?
Rini looked around for a fraction of a second. She could feel Raylin’s gaze on her.
Rini: Yes, I swear my everything to him.
Nate: And Raylin, do you swear this all to Rini?
Raylin: For all eternity.
Rini looked over to Raylin and smiled. He smiled back, taking her hand in his. Torrent held out a small silver ring to him. Kuraraka mirrored Torrent behind Rini, handing a matching ring to her. They managed to get the rings on each other and stood holding hands while Nate finished up.
Nate: In front of all these people, let it be known that this Angel and this Demoness will be joined together forever. Raylin, you may now kiss your bride.
Nate took a small step back, as did the twins, giving the couple room. Raylin took a step closer to Rini, wrapping his arms around her back. He lifted her up off the ground and laid his lips on hers softly. Rini put her arms around his neck, leaning into the kiss. She noticed she felt more than arms around her back. Rini looked up to see Raylin had put his wings around her.
While everyone was cheering and clapping for them, Raylin leaned down close to Rini’s face.
Raylin: What were you paying attention to all that time?
Rini: Truthfully, I don’t know. Probably just trying to take everything in.
Raylin gave her another kiss, this time on her forehead. They started making their way down the aisle and back into the castle. The night was far from over, and they needed to freshen up before the huge party tonight.
Aura and Nate met them up in Rini’s bedroom.
Aura: Well, the hard part is over. You guys ready to have fun for the rest of the night?
Rini: Truthfully, Id love to just go to sleep, or relax for the rest of the night.
Aura: Well that’s not like you. You’re usually all up and ready for a party.
Nate: I’m sure she’s just tired from all the excitement and stress.
Nate gave Aura a look that said not to look into her being tired. Aura just agreed.
Raylin: We’ll probably retire from the party early. She’s right; some quiet time would be a nice thing.
Nate: Well, we’re gonna get going. Bacardie needs help before all the people come rushing in looking for food.
Nate pulled Aura from the room and quietly shut the door. Aura just looked at him with a puzzled look on her face.
Nate: She’s got a good reason to be tired and zoned out…
Aura: What do you…?
Aura’s mouth opened in a silent ‘Oh’.
Aura: Does Raylin know yet?
Nate: That’s why she wants to leave the party early with him.
Nate just smiled and started down the stairs. Aura chased after him asking 101 questions that got no answer but a smile.
Later that night the castle was full of people eating and yelling and having fun. Rini and Raylin did their thing, had their dance, and all the normal traditions. Raylin noticed Rini was starting to fall asleep in her thrown. He excused them both from the party and thanked everyone for coming. Nate helped him carry her up to her bedroom. After they got her on her bed he said good night and left them. Raylin sat on the edge of the bed looking down at her. Rini woke up enough to smile at him.
Rini: Of all the presents we got tonight, I think I might have the one worth the most.
Raylin: What do you mean? You didn’t have to buy us anything.
Rini just smiled at the lost looking angel above her. She sat up and pulled herself into his lap. He wrapped his arms around her, still looking puzzled. Rini snuggled her face into the nape of his neck.
Raylin: What are you hiding?
Rini just quietly took his hand and put in on her stomach and sighed into his hair. Even though she couldn’t see his face she knew Raylin probably had a look of surprise on his face. She felt his arms tighten around her, hugging her closer.
Raylin: Always full of surprises, aren’t you?
Rini: I love you too…
