Negasis- Chapter 5

A few years had passed. Rini had managed to do quite a bit in that time. The close by village was completely restored, and was even enlarged. She still thought that a monster had destroyed the poor town, and felt very good to see the people finally living peacefully.
One night she received a visit from one of the Saviorai. It had scared her because when she answered the door a rather large black wolf had padded into the castle. But he was only there with word from her daughter, Random. She wanted to come home and visit if she could get the chance to get away from all her training. She wanted to ask questions about things she couldn’t when she was small.
Raylin was showing up more and more. And Rini was starting to not mind it as much. They still argued like hell, but not about life and death matters. One argument was because Rini wanted to just let the people in her castle know that he was going to be there, and not have to hide him. She even offered him his own room in the tower below hers. When he kept refusing Rini told him to stop showing up when he pleased. It was stay at the castle or go. She didn’t want to keep hiding him and telling people she wasn’t talking to him when they knew better.
Nate had started studying magic. Aura and Rini were trying to teach him self defense magic, and little tricks for everyday life. He was learning quickly. He even had time to be taught the sword by Bacardie.
But all the excitement was up on Mt. Arlea. Deep in the northern woods, Random was out with Bowden. For a while now he had been training her. They were also seeing each other here and there.

Bowden: Random, thanks for coming out here tonight...
Random: Of course... what did you want to ask me? You seem to want to keep it pretty private.
Bowden: Oh, that? Not now... Not just yet, we need to go a little farther into the woods.

Bowden and Random continue on into the woods. Soon, they walk into a large forest clearing. There's a fire lit in the center with a blanket laid out along with a basket...

Bowden: Happy fourth anniversary, lovely.
Random: Aaaww, you're so sweet...
Bowden: Come on, let's get comfy. Maybe if you behave, and after we eat, I'll let you guess what I'm going to ask.
Random: Ok, I'll make sure to behave.

Once all settled on the blanket and snuggled up close by the fire, Bowden pulled out two wineglasses and a small black bottle of Blood berry wine.

Bowden: So, do you want to wait till after we eat? I know your Impatient as hell with this kind of stuff.
Random: I want to guess now, I really want to know.
Bowden: Go ahead; you get all night to guess. You know I won't mind waking up next to you.
Random: Hmmm... My first guess is...
Bowden: Think hard... It's something you want the most...
Random: Really now... Something I want the most. That could be a lot. Did you want to ask me to move in with you?
Bowden: That would go along with it, but that's not it. Try again...
Random: Ok... Nagh, are you asking me... to...?
Bowden: Maybe I am... what if I was? Would you say yes and make me happy?
Random: Bowden! Are you serious?!
Bowden: Would you, sweet heart?
Bowden pulled out a ring made of the purest silvers and gems. He slid it on her finger smiling.

Random: Of course I will! We’ve gotta let my parents know... Hopefully they take it well.
Bowden: Whether they like it or not we'll get married. I don't think your mom will have any objections anyway.
Random: No, she probably won't. I'm sure she'll be fine... And, even if they don't want it we'll just go far away and stay together.
Bowden: Lets not worry. It's late, want to camp out here tonight?
Random: Yes, sure. It's warm enough and there’s no rain to come all week.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

At the castle everyone could here Rini when she got the news from her recently arrived daughter.
Rini: Are you serious?! Random, you've finally done something that has made me proud of you! And you managed to snag a good one too
Random: I guess this means you're not against it, there's some good news.
Rini: Why would I be against it? You managed to pick up one of the strongest, wisest, noble-bloods of their race!
Bowden: Flattery gets you no where Rini... And what of her father? Does he know this will be going on?
Random: That's right… Daddy will be completely furious with me over this...
Rini: Ooh, Raylin can stuff it! Over protective angel. He worries far too much; he'll get over it in time.
Random: I hope so. He gets a temper when he's mad...
Rini: Let's not worry about Stuffy Wings... In the mean time, we'll throw a huge party in celebration tonight, and you two will be married by sundown tomorrow night!

The two stood there and watch Rini dart off into the halls yelling to all the servants and maids to get the house ready for a huge party and wedding.

Bowden: She makes a big deal out of everything, doesn’t she?
Random: She has huge parties and festivals for beheadings and exiles, this is nothing. Tonight's party will only be the tip of the ice burg. Wait till until the night of the wedding.
Bowden: Should I be worried?
Random: Yeah... Just wait till tomorrow night. You've never seen a party till youve been to one of mom's parties...

The night of the Engagement Party... Everyone who is everyone is gathering at Negasis Castle to wish good luck, and give gifts, to the lucky couple. Rini's preparations took the entire day and were still being finished up as the guests arrived… Everyone was taking a seat at the Main Hall's huge table, talking and laughing with each other… But, one chair remained empty. Everyone knew who was to sit there, and why it was empty, but no one said a thing so that the happy atmosphere wasn't disturbed...

Rini: Welcome everyone to the Engagement Party of my daughter, Random. And, her fiancé, who she chose like anyone from my line would, Bowden. We hope you all have a good time, and that you go home as drunk as you want! Now, let's get the party started!

With that, everyone engaged in gorging out on as much food as they could take in, and drank as much wine as they could handle. The party went on late into the night... Still, the chair sat empty...

Random: Sooo..?
Bowden: So what..?
Random: How's the party? Told you she'd make it big.
Bowden: How did she manage to get so many people in such short notice? Shes even got royals from other kingdoms here... And the wedding is supposed to be bigger than this? Where does she get the food and wine? This has to cost her a fortune…
Random: I'm not really sure... But who cares? We didn't have to pay anything...

1AM rolls by... The party is still raving on into the morn. Rini, though, is interrupted and brought to the side by Bacardie. The final guest had arrived and wasn’t too happy to be there...

Bacardie: Mistress, I'm sorry to intrude on your party… Forgive me, but Sir Raylin has shown and he doesn't seem to be in a good mood at the moment. He demands to see you and the engaged right now...
Rini: Must he do this? He is so stubborn some times... Tell his highness to bring himself in here. He should know I won't follow the orders of any angel in the heavens. And tell him also that he is to not disrupt the party or the guests, and mainly those two. Now go...
Bacardie: Yes, Mistress…
Random: Mom... What was that about? Why did Miss Bacardie look as if someone was going to kill somebody?
Rini: Your father just showed up. I think that's all you need to know...
Bowden: Why does that bloody angel have to be so temperamental about the smallest things? Must he ruin the fun for at least the guests with his little squabbles..?
Rini: You know him. And there he is now! Our final guest. Raylin, sweetheart, how are you? How are the sunny heavens?
Raylin: How in the seven hells did you let this happen?!
Rini: Let what happen?
Raylin: You know what! Your letting our daughter be married to a flea bitten scrounge of a mutt-beast! And even worse, without MY consent
Rini: You know, Raylin... I think you need to calm down. And if you want to have a temper tantrum, go outside with it. You're disrupting my guests and the party. Would you like it if I sent someone to a party you were giving?
Raylin: This isn’t about the bloody party, Rini! You gave my daughter away to a blood lusty fur-bag!
Rini: He's not a fur-bag, or a mutt-beast. He's of high rank and stature. He's a perfectly fine son-in-law. You'll just need to get over it.
Raylin: Get over it when he's dead and buried!
Raylin pulled his sword from its sheath and glared at Bowden.
Raylin: YOU! MUTT! Get over here, NOW! We'll see if you get my daughter.
Rini: THERE WILL BE NO FIGHTING IN THIS CASTLE! Raylin put that blasted sword away, now. If you so much as swing at him I'll step in and make sure you, and him, don't touch each other... Understand? You are in MY territory now, not the heavens. You'll abide by my laws now..
Bowden: No, Rini. If he wants me to fight for her, then I will...
Bowden stood up and rested his hand on his sword's hilt. Face all set on Raylin. He walked forward to face Raylin but felt a tug on his sleeve. He looked down to see Random looking up at him with her naturally innocent, childlike eyes.
Rini: You two will not fight, or shed blood in my castle. If you do I'll make sure all of your blood and your bodies are smeared against the walls.
Random: Bowden please don't hurt daddy. He only means well, and if he tried to hurt you when you don't hurt him, I’ll step in to make sure you’re safe. Even if I die.
Bowden: You're right. I shouldn't have to fight him to be able to have you. But don't try to stand in the way. No need for you to get hurt in his problems.
He noticed that Random's attention had drifted behind him. He turns just in time to see Raylin get past Rini and run towards him. Bowden quickly pulled out his sword and stood ready to block Raylin's swings.

Raylin: No matter what you rank in your little kingdom, you're still a mutt.. Not worthy of my daughter or any beast in the god forsaken world!
Raylin swung right for Bowden’s head, but all his attacks are quickly blocked by Bowden's broadsword.

Bowden: Back off now, angel. I won't hurt if you if I can help it.. But if you force me I'll take off both your wings and that holy little head of yours.
Bowden blocked another swing from Raylin, knocking him back slightly, just enough to take a swing at him hitting him in the stomach with the flat of the blade. As the two fought it out in the middle of the hall, Random looked on almost in tears. She stood up and slowly started to head for them. The slow walk turned to a quick run, as she ran right between them almost getting her arm sliced off by her own father's attacks on Bowden.

Raylin: God's name girl! What do you think you're doing? Get out of the way so I can rid the world of this horrid mongrel.
Random: Daddy, no! If you swing again I won't move and I'll make sure you hit me instead of Nagh. And then what? Your petty little problems with his kind will only made you loose your only daughter. I'm not afraid to stand in his place, so back down.
Raylin: Random, you don't know what you're saying! You don't actually love him... Do you?
Bowden: No, she only stayed with me for four years because she was bored and hated me. Fool. Don't you pay attention? She'll let you strike her down as long as my blood isn't spilt. Doesn't that show enough devotion?
Random: Daddy, please.
Rini: Raylin, stop being ignorant. Look at her. You realize if you killed him she'd try to kill you. Remember, she's not exactly peaceful when she's angry. Just let them be.
Raylin: Bloody hell... I can't believe this all. Rini, my god's you really do rule over a completely insane world down here. I'm probably going to regret all of this one day. And I will always hate my decisions.
Raylin put his sword away and stood up much straighter, like the gentle man he is, but with a very serious face.
Raylin: Random. You both have one year to prove to me it'll work.
Random: What do you mean..?
Raylin: One year. You'll be wed, but I'll watch you both for one year. If once he hits you, makes you cry from pain, or treats you unfairly, I'll come back down here and kill him. That time I swear my blade won't miss his heart...
Random: Daddy! Thank you!
Random hugged Raylin tight, nuzzling his cheek. She backed up and stood by Bowden smiling.
Bowden: You won't have to worry about anything. Especially the attempting to kill me again. But, you have to swear on the heavens you come from that after that one year you will NEVER bother us again.
Rini: You mind as well swear, Raylin. Bowden here is a perfect gentleman when it comes to the ladies. I think you'll actually be surprised.
Raylin: One year... Random, I hope you know what it took for me to allow this. You better be thankful.

And so, the next night at Midnight Rini's house was filled once more with 100's of guests and Random and Bowden were wed by, none other than her father, Raylin. In time, of course, one year came and went. Raylin kept his promise and watched them closely. Bowden made not a single mistake. During that one year many things happened. Raylin was aloud to go back to the Castle when he wished, to see Rini and visit. Random bared Bowden a son and daughter, twins. One was named Torrent, and the other Kura.
Like their mother and father, the twins grew quickly. Their parents were amazed at their magic abilities at their ages also. Torrent, the younger boy, was talented with his grandfather’s holy abilities and chose a Bo Staff as his choice weapon. By looks he took after his mother; White hair, and fair skinned. Though, he had his father’s deep, red eyes. He grew up calm domineered and quiet, which worried Bowden. Torrent wanted nothing to do with fighting. Where as his slightly older sister, Kura took so much after Bowden it was scary. She had his gold hair, and his temperament. She had amazing hold on elemental magic, and chose a sword like her father’s. She was quick to anger, but was fair.
When the twins were old enough to go out on their own, they went to the castle to finally see Rini and Raylin for the first time. When they arrived though, they were greeted by Nate. Whether it was fate, or the timing, Bowden wasn’t exactly happy with what happened. Torrent and Nate became very close friends. Over the time of a few months Nate was spending time with Torrent like that’s how it was supposed to be. Rini and Random had no problems with this. Torrent and Nate were adults and could do as they pleased. Bowden and Raylin though almost had heart attacks at the girl’s calmness. But they slowly grew the just accept it.
