Negasis- Chapter 2
The slamming of a door made her eyes shoot open. Rini sat up just as she felt the bed bounce under her.
Nate: Rini! Rini! Time to wake up!
Rini: Nathan... What have I told you about coming in my room and waking me?
Nate: But you promised to show me what you’ve been working on today…
Nathan sat at the foot of Rini’s bed making a whimpering noise. With a loud sigh, Rini started to climb from bed. Nate jumped up and ran from the room, closing the door behind him to let Rini get dressed.
Rini: Damn the gods that made him so easily excited…
She headed out of the room and down the long case of stairs that led from her tower. When she made it to the main hall, Nathan was running circles around Bacardie’s feet. (Bacardie made herself part of the household as a traveling worker looking for somewhere to get a job. Rini didn’t have much choice in hiring her or not, as Bacardie saw that at Rini’s age, she needed someone to help with such a large house and such an energetic kid)
Bacardie: Lady, I’m sorry for him waking you. I tried to stop him, but you know how he is…
Rini: It’s fine. I had to get up eventually, didn’t I?
They both stood there watching the little boy bounce in place, eyes almost bigger than his head. Rini started to walk towards one of the doors.
Rini: A few rules… Nathan, do not touch anything. This is going to be the only time you’re aloud in this area of the castle. Do we understand?
Nate: Yes, yes! Now let’s go! I want my surprise.
Rini lead the other two down a long, thin case of stone stairs. When they reached the bottom Bacardie and Nate stopped to look around while Rini kept going. The room was full of chains hanging from the walls, and other things that looked far from pleasant. They chased after her when they noticed she wasn’t right next to them anymore.
Rini: Keep up, you could get lost easily down here.
They all stopped after a few feet in front of a wide, heavy wood door. Rini pulled a key out and unlocked the door. But, she didn’t open it up right away. Turning, she looked at her guests seriously.
Rini: When you come in here, stay in the open part of the room. I have to get my little project from a back room. And keep quiet, loud noises wouldn’t be a good thing.
Rini held the door open for them and followed after, closing the door behind her. Bacardie and Nate stayed very still in the room. It was mostly dark, very cold. Tables and shelves all over the room were covered in bottle and books for magic casting a spells. Before they knew it, they were standing alone. Rini had vanished through another, smaller door. A moment later she came walking out holding what looked like a pile of bed sheets. Nate was the first one to break the still silence of the room.
Nate: What is it?
Rini: This, Nate Chan, is what I’ve been working on all this time.
Bacardie and Nate finally got a good look at the blanket. A small, almost white pale hand popped from it. Rini moved part of the blanket to show a face.
Rini: Her name is Geni. She will protect the castle when she grows to full size in about 6 years. She was created from part of you, Nate Chan, and part of me. So you have to help take care of her. We have to be careful, though. She’s delicate.
Bacardie: My Lady, aren’t you afraid of any troubles? No one has ever created life this way without having problems.
Rini: We’ll just have to see what happens…
Rini lead everyone, including the new member of the house back to the main floor, out of the cold basement. She brought Geni and Nate Chan to the living room. Sitting Geni on the ground, she let the new child have some time to get used to her new family.
Over a few years, Rini started to train Geni. As soon as the baby was able to walk and take commands she was taught to defend herself from anything. Bacardie was amazed at how fast the baby grew to a child and then into a young teen before her eyes. Geni wasn’t the only one who grew faster than everyone. Nate Chan had gone from his little 8yr old body to that of a 16yr old in what seemed like over night. He also didn’t look to Geni as a little sister, but more his daughter.
Rini also welcomed another stranger into the castle. A lady by the name of Aura showed up one day. The blond seemed to know a lot about Rini and everything that had been going on. Rini took the blond and allowed to her to come and go as she pleased. Aura, herself, owned a castle and knew a lot about the lands and people.
Nate: Rini! Rini! Time to wake up!
