AN: Thanks for looking into my story! Ive been working on this thing for quite a few years and the writing gets progressivly better as Ive added chapters. Yes, it is completely written in a play/script format as I was planning on turning this into a weekly comic but have not had the chance. Thanks again for reading!

Two red eyes opened up and looked around. Not quiet sure where they were looking at, or even what time of day it was because of all the smoke around her. The ground under her was cold and hard...

Rini: Where Am I? What's going on?

Nothing answered. As she stood up and took in everything she found herself standing in a dark, large castle hall. She backed up a little, into a chair and spun around fast to see what it was.

Rini: Hello? Is anyone here?

Quickly she started from the room, and, luckily, the first door she ran into was the door leading to the front yard. Out of the castle now, she ran. Going as fast as her legs would let her in a long skirt. She hit the gates at the far end of the yard. She was small enough to squeeze through the bars. When she was clear of the gates she was off again. Down a dark trail through a small patch of woods, she saw lights at the end of the road.

Rini: (Maybe the people there can help...)

Out of the woods she quickly ran to the first house she saw. She banged on the door with all her strength. No one answered. Anger rose in the girl’s chest as she flew off the porch and up to the next house. Banging on the door, finally someone answered.

Rini: Where am I? Did you see who left me at that castle in the woods?
Random villager: Demon! You've got the eyes of the Hell spawn, get away from my house!

The villager slammed the door in her face and she heard the bolt lock slip into place. For some reason this sent her rage over the top. Setting her hands on the door, she blew through it like wet paper. Stepping into the house she saw the villager and his family by the fire looking at her. By this point the little girl had no idea what she was doing, or that she was even capable of her actions. In the blink of an eye the house was down to the ground in flames.
The girl set forth destroying each house that didn’t help her. And with each house that went down her anger rose. In a matter of hours the village was laid to waste. People died in their burning houses, animals, live stock, pets along with them, except for the lucky few who escaped to the woods. As the last house fell to the ground, the girl felt very tired, light headed. And down she went.
A few hours later the fires had subsided and the girl awoke. Sitting up in the grass and straw she looked around. Her face filled with horror at all the burned bodies.

Rini: What monster would do this?

All of her memories of waking up in the castle, all of her running and begging for help and the destruction of the town had gone from her mind. She sat there trying to figure out how she had made it through the 'monsters' rampage alive. Slowly standing up, she started to walk about the wreckage calling out for anyone that might still be alive. Finally she heard a small noise. It was the noise of a baby, hurrying towards the sound, she found a small baby protected under its mother's body still alive and unharmed.

Rini: Poor thing, the monster killed your family. Now we're both alone. But don't worry; I'll take care of you myself.

She lifted the baby and headed towards the only place that wasn’t destroyed, the castle she started in. Slowly she made her way back to the castle. It was a long, cold walk in the dark. Finally in the castle she found her way to a small living room with a fireplace and a small couch. Laying the baby on the couch she found small broken pieces of wood and paper and lit a fire. She climbed on the couch next to the baby and looked at it. She herself couldn’t be more than 9 by looks.

Rini: I cant keep calling you baby, now can I?

The baby just cooed at her. Almost like he was agreeing at the idea of getting a new name. She lifted the baby up and set it in her lap so he was looking right at her.

Rini: Can you say anything? Do you know any words?

The baby giggled and smiled. In an attempt at copying what the girl was saying he made letter sounds more than words. One in particular that he loved was 'nah'. Every time he was say it the girl would laugh. Finally he blurted out a 'tah tah' sound which he found especially amusing to himself.

Rini: Well, we'll have to think of something, ok? Maybe you already have a name and you’re trying to tell me... Wish you came with a name tag or something.

The baby yawned and squeaked out its 'nah tah tah' at her again, then closed his eyes and fell asleep. She hugged it closer trying to make sure it stayed warm.

Rini: ...Nah Tah Tah... Is that all you can say? Well, it makes you happy saying it, so I'll work from there.

She sat there for a few quiet moments thinking. Finally it came to her. She snuggled the baby closer and smiled.

Rini: You'll be my Nathan. My Nate Chan...

And with her mind made up she fell asleep on the couch with the only family she had now.
