Sour Mash

the burning in my stomach from the sour mash
remind me that I can still feel
the tears stinging my eyes from the songs I listen to
reminds me that I can still hear you
the flush on my skin that gives me chills
reminds me that there's no one there to touch it
the sour taste in my mouth
reminds me the mash is the only thing thats been in it
the fuzziness in my brain
reminds me that the bottle was full when I started
the pain in my heart
reminds me that the mash isn't working yet

Do you know how much whiskey it takes to forget the moments in time that we've shared...
There isn't enough... They all come back in the morning bursting through my senses before I'm completely awake... They blaze brighter then the suns rays... burning at the edges of my reality, distracting me from the world beyond my own body...

the amber liquid helps dim the brightness of it all... taking the shine away ... helping me think, helping me forget... the come together of all the things could never be as they once were... confusion and hurt... love and hate... physical pain brought on by the breaking of a cord...
