Noah's POV

A/N: This is from another story of mine, called "Broken Promise." The woman described is Erin, whose POV the story is set in. This is Noah's POV, the Summoner man who is assigned to keep watch over her and make daily reports back to the Association. She is an Immortal with the power over water and air, making her an Elemental, a god among gods, a "Sacred One" in the Immortals world. She answers only to Mother Earth herself, and there's a story that runs deeper than Noah can figure out on his own. But, eventually, he finds it all out, with the help of two of Erin's Immortal "followers," Jordan and Kurt.

This first chapter is from Noah's POV, describing his first meeting with Erin.

Noah's POV

For some strange reason, I felt compelled to touch her. I ran my fingers along the edge of her smooth jaw, and I looked her over.

She was some sight, she really was.

Eyes like the sky at twilight. Long, dark brown hair that curled and shined as it curtained around her small, lean body. Skin that was soft and smooth to the touch, and she felt like living fire beneath my fingers.

I stepped back, just to look her over a bit more.

She wasn't thin, but she wasn't overweight either. She had a more athletic, curved look to her. She wore a loose yet form-fitting bright red tank top, tan shorts with several dark brown buckles, and a pair of dark brown hiking boots. Her coat was thick and old, and it smelled faintly of dust. It was an old army coat, an olive color, and it reached all the way down to her ankles.

As she watched me from behind her silky curtain of dark brown hair, her hands stuffed deep inside her coat pockets, I felt her. She had a pulse; it wasn't a physical one, but an ethereal one. I could feel her from where she stood before me, and she felt... ancient. I'd never felt anything that had a stronger sense of antiquity than this being, this... woman standing in front of me.

In that pulse, I felt everything that she was. She was over a thousand years of flare, sarcasm, and devotion. Between us, there seemed to be this unspoken devotion, and it was unlike anything I had ever known.

This being knew me in a way no one else ever could.

And I knew her in the same way.

I could look her in the eyes and sense what she was... and what she wanted.

She was a flame that wanted to be extinguished.
