Prologue

A/N: Hiii! Okay, since I got absolutely ZERO reviews for my preview, I just said screw it and I'm posting my story.

To those that may recognise two names in here, yes, I am borrowing the first names but I am changing the last names and making them completely different from the namesakes. Meaning, Dee won't be a cop and Karin won't be a blood making vampire. I may keep Karin as ditzy as she is in the manga, but that's still up for debate.

Pairings:

Now! On to the story!

"It's that time of year again. Y'all ready? It's our turn." A tall male with bright blond hair and sparkling green eyes said to his 3 friends who groaned as soon as he started speaking.

"Dee, for Guardians' sake, SHUT UP!" Roared one of the male, Dee's, friends. She was a rather ample chested woman who whacked Dee on the back of his head. Dee fell to the ground with a thump and the female stood over him, fist clenched and looking pissed as her long blood red hair stood on end.

"Damn, Amber, did you have to hit him that hard?" The remaining male said to Amber, the female who whacked Dee. His short dark hair contrasted nicely with his ice blue eyes, making them seem brighter. Amber turned her chocolate brown eyes onto her two remaining friends.

"Yes Aiden, I did. If I didn't, you know Karin would've done much worse." Aforementioned woman turned her mahogany colored eyes up to her two friends.

"Well he was getting annoying! I mean he's been sharpening all our weapons and running us through the wringer!" Karin said as she pouted and pulled her silver hair into a bun. Amber and Aiden shared a look and Aiden raised a brow while Amber just rolled her eyes.

The moon hung low in the sky and glowed a misty yellow as the village celebrated it's yearly festival. It also marked the beginning of the trials of the adventurers. The group this year marked the hundredth group to go off to try and complete this quest. There has only been a total of 5 groups that had completed the quest. It always made everyone nervous for all those that had failed, never returned.

The group; Karin, Dee, Aiden and Amber, were all sitting against one of the platforms watching the people celebrate the festival all the while wondering if they would ever return.

"If we don't return, I'm happy that we at least got to go out together. We may not return, but I'm glad that I'm going away with you guys." Karin said quietly to the group. They all just smiled at each other and went back to watching the festivities before some of the kids came to have them play with them. The group never noticed how 4 of the adults shot them sympathetic looks.

The group panted a bit after dealing with the fourth monster in a row.

"These things just keep coming!" Amber said as she wiped her brow and held her bow and arrows at the ready. Karin sheathed her arm blades, and both Dee and Aiden put away their weapons. Dual daggers for Aiden and a sword for Dee. Looking around, they noticed they were safe for now. If they can avoid the monsters for a while, they will be fine. Panting harshly, the group ran as fast as they could, making a desperate dash for the exit of the lust emerald forest they were in.

"Alright, the next town was only a half a day walk from here. If we hurry we can make it before nightfall. You know the monsters are worse at night." Aiden said between breaths. They group just nodded and started walking.

Many hours and more than a few monsters later, the group made it to the town and made a beeline to the nearest inn. After getting a room, the group collapsed on their respective beds. They were tired, sore and gritty from being on the road.

"We need to take baths, but I can't get up...." Amber said and got a chorus of "Same here."'s from everyone else. The only thing that crossed Amber's mind before falling into the blissful void of sleep was, ::Damn, I'm hungry....::

Okay, that's it for the first chapter. It sucks, I know. Gimmie a break, plot isn't my strong point.
