Sacrifice Helle Season Two

HUNTERS

The alley laid cold and dark, not a single light to guide anyone’s way. The clicking of a woman’s high heels was the only thing to be heard, clicking sounds as she slowly walked up towards a locked door, ignoring the water pits on the ground and splashing right in the middle of them. She raised her gaze and looked up at the building in front of her, narrowing her eyes to make out an opinion of it, and although with so little light she determined that this was indeed the place she had intended to visit.

Her tongue trailed along her lips and she smirked. “Open it.”, she whispered to her comrades, three young males that were as silent as shadows behind her. One lurked forwards and with a flash of lightening the door slammed open. She kept her hands inside the pockets of her jacket and confidently walked inside, her three shadows closely following.

Her eyes searched the room and she tossed her head to the side letting her long light brown hair dance along her back, then raised her right hand and massaged her neck for a moment. “So, what do we make out of this?”, she asked raising an eyebrow. “I’ll make light, lady B.”, the same boy who had opened the door answered. A short moment after the electricity in the building turned itself on and lamps, those few who were not yet broken, sent out a cold white light revealing an empty storage room. The woman took a few quick steps towards another door on the far side of the room and laid her hand on the knob. Whispered words came from her lips, a curse, a spell, and then she spoke. “Let’s have some fun.”

She knew they’d be in the basement; demons had a knack of creating lairs in basements the few times they decided to spend a vacation on earth. The closer they got the more intense their smell became. She walked slowly, taking her time. They were trapped by her spell, not able to teleport away to safety. The other parts of the group were quicker and rushed pass her. One was tall with dark, short cut, brown hair and carried a sword on his back, he was most eager to get there and headed in front of the others. The second was about the same height and built, but with short, spiked, black hair, carrying a katana lose in his hand. Third came a boy with light hair, partially white, partially light brown. He was of a smaller frame than the other two, but seemed older and more aware of the situation, making sure that the lady was not left far behind. Neither he nor the woman carried any weapons.

They worked after routine, the one with the sword dashed ahead of the rest, rushing in on the demons in the nest which faced him with fearsome claws and teeth. They had been warned by the lights suddenly turning themselves on and were therefore prepared for something. Two demons were there, two males that immediately upon facing the man changed their appearance to their true demon form. They didn’t attack at once, unsure of what one human male could ever do to them, but when the black haired one raced in with his katana drawn they snarled and lunged at them.

“Don’t kill them!”, the woman shouted from outside the hallway. One of the demons snarled and shouted “You think you will get away from here alive!?” A lightening bolt shut his mouth up and sent him flying back towards the wall, all attacks were dodged and in didn’t take long, to the great humiliation of the demons, to get the dark creatures under control. They had been too sure about themselves and were in no condition to fight, not being able to move freely and on top of that: their magical abilities enabled. The woman laughed at their faces when they discovered this fact. “Aww, that’s just pathetic isn’t it?” She had just entered the room and walked over to the dumbfounded creatures and stared one of them right into the eyes, “Not much are you, without your powers?” He threw his claws towards her wishing to rip her to little pieces, but a sword came in the way, cutting a large wound in the demons arm. The other demon found a katana raised against his throat before he even had the time to react.

“Who the fuck are you guys?”, it snarled, shocked by the powers these people beheld. “Stupid. You are young, demon trash, but I’m almost getting offended here.”, the woman answered with her back against the demons, taking the situation with extreme calmness. “You ought to have been warned against us.” Uninterested in the situation, the fair brown haired boy crept around the room, sniffing the floor and the textiles the demons had used to curl themselves up in. The woman raised her brows at him in question, but then ignored him and turned back to the demons she had just caught. “You!”, she faced one of them, “Your name is Marbek. You are in relation to a demon I seek. She goes under the name of Cora. Tell me her location.” The demon looked at her in shock. It didn’t dare to move because of the sword that was so ready to slash him up in pieces, but didn’t answer her. “Jerome.”, the woman hissed between her teeth. The demon screamed when the sword sliced it’s way through flesh and bones in less than a second, cutting his arm off and black blood flooded over the walls and the floor. It pressed the leftovers of its limb close and growled back at Jerome who held a face of stone, blood dripping from his sword.

“I do not play games, Marbek! You should be honored I even took my time knowing your name! Where is she?!”, she screamed at him. “What do you wish with her?”, the demon growled back. She smiled devilishly, wondering about whether she should tell the truth or not. “I intend to kill her. I’m out for a hunt, and she and her little group is on my target list.” “I don’t know her location.” “Oh, yes, you do. Cora, Gerha and Darien. Tell me where their lair is. Now! And maybe I‘ll let you live…”

The one who had not taken great interest in the torture of the demons ignored the bloodshed altogether. He interested himself far more in the information he gained from investigation their lair. Smells of the underworld mixed themselves with earthly scents and then he caught a trail of something else, rose his head and spoke to his lady “Lady B, there is a vampire here.” Without taking her green eyes of the demon she answered, “Find it. Kill it.”

He turned back to search for the vamp and execute his orders. The scent brought him further away from the others and he stopped several times, sniffing in the air, making sure there was only one vampire ahead of him. His hands touched the floor like gentle paws. He had found some old blood shattered around. Vampire blood. No doubt, demons and vampires didn’t like each other, and this vampire had clearly been a toy for the two demons. He didn’t expect to find it alive. Behind him the interrogation of the demons kept on with screams and splattering sounds, now and then a spark and a flash indicating that the lady wouldn’t hesitate to have them toasted slowly.
