The High Priestess

I stood over mothers grave as dad laid a flower on her. " Raven, I must go. Please don't be angry that I must leave you. You are of course of age and i see no reason to stay." he said as he led me to the house. I saw that a woman stood at the side looking at me." Mira is here to take you to your aunts. I know that you have been wanting to be a High Priestess." he said when he saw who I was looking at, i didn't nod and i didn't show anything. Mother had once told me that if anything happened to her she wanted me to be a Brooke Woman and show no emotion, and that i was to hold my head high and act like a queen, so to speak. Instead of letting my anger show i walked away from dad," very well if I am to go then i shall pack while you grovel in self pity for Mother." i said and i knew that i had no emotion on my face as i pushed passed the woman named Mira and entered the house.

I looked at the island as i stood on the deck of the ship." you shall see it again i suspect. Your aunt did love this place." said Mira and i decided that i was going to ignore her. I turned and looked at Mira for the first time, Mira was a very elegant woman and looked to be about 21. She had long blonde hair that reached to her butt, maybe longer if it wasn't braided. Mira also wore a gold dress with a long train of gold fabric. Over her head she wore a sort of hood, well a cape really, it covered the top of her head and then trailed down to her back. It was white colored while her ropes that was tied around her waist was a deep red color." You shall be wearing this soon enough." she said and then gasped she suddenly remembered." Come along, I have forgotten that High Priestess commanded that you take and burn those nasty cloths to which you wear." she said and started to walk off, thats when i noticed that she walked as graceful as she talked and looked. " So she doesn't like what i was wearing?" i asked as we entered the master bedroom on the ship. she had pulled out a dress like hers, but it was not gold, it was silver, while the head dress like thing was gold and and rope was white. I was also given Red earrings and a red stonded necklace. In spite of what I felt of having to be in a place that i nolonger desired i had to say that i looked elegant as i felt.

As i entered the huge school several children and teens all walked around me, they had blue dresses but didn't wear the head dresses or the ropes. " That will be enough dears." said a voice and all the students put their arms crossed over their hearts and then bowed. " Go to your lessons please. Mira if you will please gather the Priests." she said and Mira crossed her arms over her heart as well and bowed," Yes Priestess." she said and walked off." I take it your father went back to his new lover?" she asked, i looked at her shocked, i had not known that he had found a new lover." Yes child, he has a new lover, but i am suprised that he didn't tell his own daughter." she said and i looked down and said nothing." that is quite alright child, i do not expect you to believe me or answer anything." she said and then walked off to the stairs.


That night a loud scream issued from the main gateway to the chamber. I was just out the door when I saw that a woman had a little girl by the arm. she then hit the little girl who sobbed as she tried to run away from her. A loud yell issued from the stairs. "LET HER GO NOW." my aunt yelled and the woman jumped, the girl who had been let go of ran off sobbing while my aunt grabbed the woman by the hand and said" How dare you do that to such a child." I then noticed that it was Mira, i stood there silent, I wanted to hear everything and knew that if i was caught here that i would be sent strait to bed. " I do not care if you are punishing her or not. Abuse of a child is not tolerated in this school Mira, and for what you did tonight you are being stripped of all your rights. " my aunt said and ripped the ring off her hand and then took the head dress and rope off. gaurds came out of the nearest doors and watched as Mira was being stripped." Take her to the cell and lock her up until i deem it nessesary to set her free. Pray Mira that i take mercy on you, for i do not have mercy for a person who hitts small children." she said and the gaurds came forward and when she tried to fight it they hit he rover the head. she wasn't knocked out, but was dioriented while they took her arms and was then dragged out.

The next day i woke to the bell ringing outside. it was the bell for a meeting outside. we all got dressed and met the high Priestess in the court yard. Next to her stood Mira who was naked and had whip marks on her back. I looked behind my aunt and saw a cage tall enough for you to stand in but small enough to where you were standing where you wanted to or not. A gaurd came and took Mira's hands and bound a peice of rope around her hands and then led her to the cage. he tied the rope to the top and then shut the door. " Mira you are setenced to spend 5 days like this. you will have no food, drink, cloths, or anyhting of value. Each day you will be asked if you understand what you did and if you hav remorse. Do you?" she asked and Mira looked at her and spit on the ground," No." she yelled and everyone gasped," then you shall suffer." she said and then walked off. I realized that there were secrets about her aunt.
