dejavu

i woke up in a cold sweat and rolled out of bed in a cold sweat the same dream night after night
I went into the kitchen and started a pot of coffee the went in to the restroom and took care of the call of nature before I turned on the shower hot as I could stand it and in I stood there and let my dream wash back over me not that I needed a dream to remind me of that day …..


It started out like any other day I went to work and came home my girlfriend was supposed to meet me there and we were going to go out to dinner and unknown to her I was going to ask her to marry me. When I got home I took a shower and started to get ready I put on black dress pants and a black silk shirt I pulled my long blond hair back in a pony tail and tied it with a red tie and pulled on my socks and shoes. After I had finished getting dressed I went into the kitchen and poured myself a glass of tea then walking back into my room I picked up the ring box off of my dresser and opened it the ring was beautiful if I did say so my self It was a white gold band with a diamond surrounded by emeralds I picked up my dress coat and put it on and placed the ring in my pocket finished my tea and walked outside when I heard a woman scream. I looked up and saw a woman running across the parking lot with some one chasing her now I never was one to let a woman in distress go unaided so I started running towards her I realized it was Krystal my girlfriend I started running faster. Just as I got to her and reached out to grab her it was the last time I ever saw her for just as I reached for her intense flame engulfed her body reducing her to ash I looked over at the man who had been chasing her his hands were engulfed in flame and his eyes glowing red, a fire mage i moved to transform as well but before I had the chance he was gone.


I finished my shower and pulled on some jeans and a shirt and my steel toe boots and stepped outside on my balcony and looked up at the moon all the while absorbed so deeply in my thought the first scream didn’t register as more than a memory, but then a second scream shattered the night and my mental fog glanced up at that same parking lot sharply and it was like dejavu there was a woman running across the parking lot with a man chasing her acting on instinct I jumped off of my balcony, landed and started running towards her but this time I was ready I was on the verge of transforming as it was making me quite a bit faster, I reached the woman grabbed her and spun around where my back was facing her attacker picked her up and ran to the bottom of the stairs when we got there I handed her the key to my apartment and said “go apartment 214” and turned to walk toward the person who had been chasing her, who had stopped half way across the parking lot, when she grabbed my arm and pulled me back “no you cant he can do thing he’s not human” I gently pried her hand off my arm and said “please just go ill be fine” I went to walk away again and again she stopped me “ didn’t you hear me I said he’s not human” I pulled away and transformed, I looked at her my eyes glowing bright silver and asked “who said I am? Now go.” Then walked towards her assailant who had transformed eyes glowing red and flame engulfing his hands this would be a night to remember.
